Started this new thread as it seems interesting. Sorry if this has been already talked about, but I think further and FULL information is necessary.

Zayed, you have done a fine job with this upgrade. Please give us ALL the details:
- OE AMG parts and from which model?
- Cost estimated?
- Modifications needed to install or straight bolt on?
- Other tips

Thanks

Thankss for interesting,

1) For Front:

8-pot Calipers & Rotors from R230 SL55 AMG 2006........

2) For Rear:

4-pot Calipers from W204 C63 2009 & Rotors from W220 S55 Kompressor with Brake shoe.......

3) It costs around ($1500).......

-Front mods.:

4) I put SL55 Rotors#: (230 421 07 12), but needs some mod. in the Rotor Hat cause its soo high that touchs the ball joint, for that reason i

modify the Hat to 18mm height with 10 allen screw settled (like in the pics,http://www.500ecstasy.com/forums//sh...-brake-upgrade),

well not need to do the Rotor mod. like i did, if can get W209 CLK63 AMG Rotors#: (209 421 01 12), cause it well fit directly, its soo expensive

($725) for each, thats why i did not put them, (wasting some $$$ in my opinion) & also needs to put 12mm bolt spacer to balance & mount

calipers with Rotors together.......

5) Rear mods:

I modify the calipers mount to fix it by changed the screws place, cause the hole place in W204 C63 Rear Calipers is different distance, sorry i

dont have pics for that, but its easy to figure out, *my advice to put the S/SL/CL/E55 Calipers, cause its bolt in directly, just need sleeves in

the calipers screw holes to match 10mm in our hub holes.......

Zayed, did you do anything about the front roll bar clearance issue? From previous posts by Money-one, I was under the impression that the front calipers would contact the roll bar unless the roll bar was modified?

Thanks Zayed for the info.
My conclusion is that the conversion does entail some modifications (as expected). Would also like to know what is the extra weight added to overall unsprung weight. This is deadly to good handling.

Don't understand this "upgrade" at all. The C43's brakes are more than just adequate.I would be real curious to see the increase in stopping distances versus stock.

Agreed... Our C43's can stop faster than a Ferrari F355!! The only reason I would make the upgrade would be for unsprung weight reduction. I think there is a brembo kit that is 11 LBS lighter than stock which is fairly significant..

Stopping distance should not be the sole determinative factor. IMO, vastly improved pedal feel and resistance to brake fade are the major differences that multi piston brake calipers and larger rotors provide compared to stock type setups. How often one sees those types of conditions necessitating such an upgrade is another story. Of course, the large caliper and rotor are almost always more pleasing to the eye than single piston brake setups. And without doubt, when you look at a car for aesthetic value, you see the wheels and what is behind them.

Our car might stop in a shorter distance but after a few runs, that distance will become larger coz brakes will fade. With E55 8 piston brakes, that wont be as big of a problem and of course those huge calipers look amazing on a small car such as c43

11lbs / 2 = 5.5lbs.You can achieve that weight reduction with changing of the wheels.

so take the 11lbs from the brakes + the weight reduction from the wheels and now our talking 20+ lbs. unsprung weight reduction.....

I agree Now we are talking better overall handling. However, I imagine that this type of upgrade (not taking cost in consideration) would be excellent for those with tracking and other race type activities in mind. True also that those great looking objects are made for showing too

Sorry for delay, of course its better to reduct about (7cm) from sway bar ends like (money-one) done, to

take some of quarter turning angle, for me its enough for that turning distence.....

Unfortunately i dont have the Exact weight for that setup, its soo heavy indeed, i feel that when i

compared with a stock one, im not that care about weight matter, depend of everyone style, i did that

setup in 2 more, in W124 500E i did all 8-pots for front & rear:

http://www.500ecstasy.com/forums//sh...and-Rear/page6

& for R129 SL500 from 6-pot for front & 4-pot for rear:

100% Agreed, good notice, our stock Rotors & Pads is expensive & not drilled or sloted, easly & fastly

fade, you can clearly see that if you live in hot country like me, thats the one of important reason to

upgrade the brake system.........

I think we deserve a good brake looking in our legend from A to Z really AMG C43, are you guys satisfied when you

see for example (W203 C32 or C55 or R129 SL500 Silver arrow or R171 SLK55 or 55s), has a better shape Calipers &

drilled Rotors with (334x32/340X32/345X32/360x36) instead of our non drilled or sloted (332X32) with more

fades, im surly know our C43 must get a fantastic brakes like everything else in the car......

I agree with you Zayed 100%, but for me the unsprung weight is an important factor. It is amazing that very few people look or notice the C43 as it is an older looking model. Driving in the mountains in my part of the world, you need good handling if you want to go fast. So unsprung weight is essential. I notice the difference with my other car (98' C240T) which has heavy OEM 17" staggered wheels instead of the standard 15". Apart from a larger footprint giving the car shorter stopping distance, the handling is less sharp with the 17" than when I have the 15" on. In my C43, I still have yet to experience serious fade, but probably I have not gone to the limits yet, as I respect my C43 with close to 220000 km on the clock. True, to improve braking, it is important to look at all the brake system: fit stainless braided hoses, get some more resistant brake pads and do a complete brake fluid flush with some high temperature liquid. If it still fades, only then consider a bigger brake set up. Like an older horse, you have to be gentle with it and warm it up nice before going full out

This is not true. You need CLK55/63 or SLK55 calipers

If you read the begining of this sentence, you well understand that i explained about how to put 8-pot from S/SL/CL/E55 & C63 Rear Calipers & modify

them to match c43 front & rear hub, which i did, not in generaly, i know that the SLK55AMG front Rotors is 340mm & bolt on directly, but in my case i need

to go with 360mm,, and if i got the SLK55AMG Brakes i don’t have to explained all that points above....!!!
