I dont have 17's but i have 18's with 255's and i dont think why there would be any problems. goin to a wider tire by 10 is never in issue. i went 265 once and didnt have any issues. the C63 comes with 255's and currently i have 275 and there is no issues so i would say go for it!

As long as the rolling diameter is very close to the front tires, they'll work fine. I run 225/45-17 fronts with 255/40-17 rears, and have for the last 5 years or so.

I ran the stock contisports in 255/40/17 when I had my stock monoblocks. However I was lowered and did have rubbing that was bad enough to require some grinding of the rear bumper/fender lip and a litte rolling of the fender in this same area. I also noticed that with the 255/40/17 my cruise control didn't always work properly....I seem to be the only one this happened too but it wasn't anything that I could ignore either.

Pretty sure it must have to do with the 30 offset on the monoblocks as my 18x9.5's don't rub at all with a 265/35/18

The bigger the difference in rolling circumference is, the earlier your cruise control will be activated.

Depends on the difference... maximum is around 1%. But I suggest not to go over 0,5%. Ask the tire manufacturer about exact circumference. There can be big differences between different tires of same dimension.
I use 225/40-18 and 265/35-18 as winter tires. I asked manufacturer before order, so I have no trouble. A friend ordered same size without asking manufacturer. It did not work on his C43.
