Springs or Shocks for the Trunk Lid?

I am guessing that the tech who worked on my car ripped my springs or shocks for that matter. It really sucks!!! I do not want to blame anyone since I do not have any proof that they actually took it. But I am sure that the feel of opening the trunk lid now is very different. Before, I need to pull the lid down in order for it to close. Now, it won't stay up and the lid drops down due to its weight. Sigh...
My question is: Does the trunk lid have shocks or spring, or both, in order for it to stay up? Does anyone know the part numbers for these parts? I need to get one as it pisses me off whenever I open up the trunk lid.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

It is developed by MB and used at MB dealerships to work on all of the cars, BIG TIME HELP (obviously)

Here is a link to one being sold on Ebay, this one looks like a newer version as I believe I have the version that is up to 2006 as I do not have info on the W204 but it has everything pre 2006 and that is all I need

So true, I am just starting to get the hang of it and I have had the WIS for almost a year.
I was unaware of the star classic, if it is anything like the WIS then I would definitely suggest buying it if you don't have the WIS
. Mine broke one at a time and scared the poop out of me. It sounds like someone either hit my car or shot at my car.
I'll look for a tech to repair it, because now it weights a ton.
Thanks again for the info. My husband is a very proud man and doesn't like me to fix things, but drags his feet to repair things that don't affect his everyday life.
I'm not a nagger, so I just wait until I have time to complete the task and do it myself.
I'll try your suggestion and let you know how I fare.
I search for the OEM repair kit without any fruitful result. Are they only sold via dealers only? I will try the S hook method for now.
The question is why did the MB made so many holes to the bracket? Did they expect this kind of problem?
Here is why I disagree though. First, the original bracket has only one hole on the ear of bracket where the spring attaches to. You can only access to the holes after the ear tears off due to metal fatigue. Second, I cannot believe the BM would provide customer adjustment anywhere. It gives impression that the design is not perfect - the Germans hate this.
Regardless, I was just wondering why the extra holes anyway - more like thinking out loud.
