off topic: Rich parents, bratty kids
I've encountered a few of them on hwy 99 while visiting Vancouver/Richmond this summer.
Very cocky punks and mostly transplants.

Unfair on many levels.
As some of you may know, I am 17. I hope that you guys don't see me as a "spoiled" kid with an amg.
I appreciate my car and I treat it well. I also love doing everything on it myself or along side my mechanic.
Thanks to you guys for helping me when I need it!

I heard about this on the news this morning. The stupidity is that there's a race track not far from Vancouver, they could have just gone there and driven as fast as they wanted!
The other stupidity is that the article says one car had less than 200km on the odo. Poor motor's not even broken in properly yet! Ai yah!

Being 17 and owing a 15 year old AMG is just fine. Being less than 20 and driving a brand new SL63 or SLS or Ferrari is another story.

Driving a 15 year old AMG is not even close to this situation. These are exotic cars.
Heck, I would let my son drive my E55 when he turns high school as long as he drives within the speed limit safely, responsibly and follow all traffic rules & regulations.

Interesting. I wonder how the outcome will be. I'll research more on the
forfeiture law they mentioned.

When you have that kind of horsepower and are an unexperienced driver, racing other fast cars is a terrible idea. I remember racing a buddy in his dads Z8 bmw against my dads X50 996 Turbo Porsche.
Looking back at it, I'm glad we are both still alive.
Both our parents thought we were driving their cars safely, I remember my dad always saying "If you crash my car, don't bother coming home."
From past experience, I do not recommend parents provide their children with high horsepower automobiles. You might be a good kid, but when your buddy pushes you to race with your friends around, its hard to say no.
Just my 2 cents

I just read that link, wow that is nuts. I was also gonna say what about being 19 almost 20 and having a c43 when it was only a year old? I bought my c43 when I was 19 almost 20 back in 2001 and I paid an arm and a leg for it (parents did not help at all) (I had a good job and work 70 hours a week back then).

Stupid brats....
They're parents are just as dumb for buying they're immature kids $100k-$200k high performance sports cars.
I would get 100X more satisfaction knowing I worked and bought something myself rather then mommy and daddy buying it for me.
You really appreciate what you have when you buy it with your own hard earned money.

My parents never purchased any of my cars. All I have owned have been financed with hard work and plenty of sweat and sometimes tears too. Did crash my fathers car twice due to my (at the time) young dare devil and no experience attitude. Agggrrr, did I get a lashing

Let not judges people who we don't really know of. I agreed that it stupid to speed on public roads but we all done it during our youth and adult life. The only different is, these rich kids done it in an exotic cars. I don't think there's anything wrong with those rich parent gave their kids exotic cars. Who are we to say that those kid doesn't work hard for their parent business? I would definitely do the same for my kids if I'm win the lotto.

120 MPH is 120 MPH whether its in an Altima or a Ferrari but you can reach much higher speeds in the same distance in the Ferrari so he is more likely to travel at a higher rate of speed in the Ferrari vs the Altima
unless they are Graham Rahal or the like they should not be driving a super car at the age of 19, just my opinion

The same can be said, which is more safer at that speed? A exotic sport car or an Altima? Believe me, 120 in Altima is probably scary and 120 in a ferrari probably feel like 60 MPH.

It's the 0-120mph that's the dangerous part. A lot more damage can be done in an exotic than the Altima. Of course the exotic is a safer car at 120mph but with all that power on tap, young inexperienced drivers...that's just a recipe for disaster.
