I checked the EPC and found the following part numbers:

Front right speed sensor: A 202 540 16 17

Front left speed sensor: A 202 540 17 17

You should call your local MB dealer and see how much they cost.

Those are the only speed sensors I could find, I hope this helps.

i think those are abs speed sensors, the guy may have been mistaken. he is gonna drop the trans. tomorrow so i will take the sensor that is broken to an mb dealer to see if they can help.
what annoys me is that it wasn't broken before.

Those were the only speed sensors listed in the EPC, I checked the tranny section too. Good luck with the fix

I don't know about a 722.4, but with a 722.6, the mechanic can't tell if it's the speed sensor or the plate unless he's pulled them. Also, in a 722.6, the plate and sensors are pulled without removing the transmssion.

i went to the mb dealer today and asked them about the part, they could not find any speed sensor that went in the tranny for a 722.4, they said to bring in the broken part and they could find me a new one.
i did not have time to go to the mechanic today but i will go tomorrow and and him what exactly is wrong with the car and why he thinks the tss is broken.(wasn't broken when i took the car to him).

he did tell me that the car would not shift out of 1st gear and something about the clutch bands being to tight and that was because of the tss.
what do you guys think. i know there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum and wanted to know if you guys might know whats wrong with my car or what part i need.

i also remember him saying the sensor was located on the drivers side near the front of the tranny and went 3 inches into the transmission which is why he needed to drop the tranny.

sorry if this is a bit confusing just got home from work.

The 722.4 must be completely different than the 722.6.

The mostly common problems with 722.3/.4, for non-shift 1st gear, mechanical (Valve Body failure), or Electrical (solenoid magnet or 1

st. gear K29/1 if you have it)......

well i spoke to my mechanic today and told him i could not find the tss for a 722.4 trans and he tells me that my trans is a 722.3(he told me 722.4 on monday), which would explain why the mb dealer couldn't help me.
after googling 722.3 i found a nice pdf that showed all the parts of my trans, and i found the real name of the part i need. a modulator valve which would explain why my reverse gear was acting up.
i am going to buy the part tomorrow and hopefully have my benz by friday. which would be nice to have after almost 2 months in the shop.
