Rear diff fluid?

Rear diff fluid?
I am looking to replace the fluid in my rear diff. Is this the stuff I want?

This gear oil is recommended for manual transmission, transaxle, or rear axle differentials requiring specification API GL-5, please verify prior to ordering. Meets specification API GL-5 and MIL-L-2105C/D.

I just found a post from speedybenz and he is saying he uses Red line shockproof light weight gear oil, anyone else use this??

I just threw in some napa premium hypoid gear oil.. not saying you should but really nothing special about the non LSD diff in our cars. Let me know if you have a problem getting those allen drain/fill plugs out. I had to drop the muffler to get in there with a small torch to heat and wd-40 the crazy stuck fill plug. I also had to cut down the allen wrench to get the clearance needed. Hopefully yours wont be as stuck...

Im always using "Castrol SAF-XJ (75w140)" from MB # "001 989 52 03/10".........

Its soo easy, just jack up the car & remove the diff. oil screw, let the old oil to go, then put the new oil, and prefer if you add "2" bottles of oil
additive from "MB or Mugen sieki super silicone 3000 or 5000".......

I didn't know that Mugen or MB made or even recommended their "snake" oils

I don’t have that info about it,, as i know: its a synthetic concentrated formulated additive designed to help lubricants to reduce a friction point
in the gears & pinions, as example; Amsoil also recommend it with there lube products,,

I just bought some Royal purple full synthetic 75w140 as my local parts store was out of the Castrol and Mobile 1.
Anyone have any experience with royal purple?

Royal purple is also a very good choice 75w140, they have a same formula specs. of "Liqui moly & Würth",, if you can add "2" bottles of
additives, it well be great.......

Will also be doing mine when I get around doing my "Spring season" updates and mods in April when I will have all the time in the world (retirement) to get my hands oily

Changed the rear diff fluid today with Royal purple 75W140 full synthetic and all I can say is WOW!
I decided to change the fluid after looking through the WIS and noticing they recommend changing the diff fluid every 2 years. I checked my records from the last "B" service I had performed and noticed they didn't change the diff fluid (I wish I knew why
) so since I have had my C43 for 2 months shy of 2 years I figured it was due. The difference is astounding! My car is SOOOOOO much smoother I wish I had done this sooner.
I changed out both of my flex discs as well as the rear had 2 cracks in it, the front turned out to be fine but I wanted to get them both changed while I was down there.
I will posts pics of the flex discs and the cracks later.

That's interesting. I wouldnt have imagined the diff fluid change would have made that much of a difference. I wonder how much that smoothness came from the flex disks. Did you check the centering bushing for wear while you had the drive shaft down?

I had changed the center support bearing a little over a year ago and it was fine. I questioned if the smoothness came from the flex discs as well but the front disc looked almost new and the rear had 2 small cracks in it, only conclusion I could come to was the diff fluid was old and burned up
