Life span of a flex disc?

How long is a flex disc supposed to last? When I bought my car the first thing I did was replace the front and rear flex discs. I had my car on a rack and I noticed tiny cracks starting in the rear flex disc, I immediately ordered new flex discs for the front and rear (going to replace both while I have it up on a rack).

It has been about 1 year 10 months and about 17,000 miles since I replaced them last time, does this seem like the correct life span of a flex disc?

How have you been driving it? They can last a lifetime if you don't mash the throttle, or as few as 15k miles if you hammer it every gear.

Jason,
Guess you drive your 43 too much, but that's also the best way to enjoy your "jewel"
Did you change with OE flex discs or use some cheaper stuff?

I guess if you consider an average of 32 miles per day too much. I think that is just the right amount to keep everything lubricated

Honestly I do not remember if they were OEM but I would guess they were not.
The ones I just ordered are

Hey 503 I was wondering where you ordered your flex disk's? And when you were replacing your's did you also replaced the support bearing and Cv joint? I think its also called you joint. Im feeling a big jerkit feels like its coming by the transmisson and diff. I was reading one of your posts and you had the same problem. Around 1700-2000 rpm when driving and releasing your foot off the gas pedal.

The 230-410-01-15 replaces the 210-410-06-15 flex disc. I have a spare set and MB replaced the old number to the new one. I think they may have made it last better, but have not installed them on car since they good on my 43 so I can't confirm but it is the correct ones for sure though.

I replaced mine at 186k thinking they needed it (considering I hadn't done it since I purchased at 126k and assumed no previous owner had). They looked brand new. A lifetime in theory.

My 2 cents.

Same here, I asked 2 different mechanics to look at them very recently at they both told me that it was money thrown out of the window as they looked great. I'm at > 150k

Get them changed pronto like because if they break your transmission shaft will create havoc to the underneath, if not cause an accident!

They are already on order. I inspect them every oil change. They're cracked but not quite critical yet. I just did motor mounts, trans mount and flex disc's are next.. But yeah thanks for the heads up. It's amazing the damage a loose drive shaft can do.

Wow, your flex discs lasted for EVER.

Must be because the C36 has no torque

For flex I used SGF. Only difference I could tell between the one I bought and the original was the mercedes star. For mount I used lemforder. Also used *** carrier bearing and mercedes carrier bearing housing. I originally bought a blisten aftermarket housing but ended up returning it because of its horrible quality. I could push the bearing in by hand and one seated it could wobble around ~0.020" in the hole. The difference in quality to the factory part was substancal. Thanks to good guys at beaverton Mercedes they overnighted the part and wasn't much of a set back at all.
