Lucky to be alive! ***pics inside***
I was heading to a poker tournament today in Pendleton, OR when I got in a MAJOR accident. I was coming from Walla Walla, WA where my wife and I were staying with my father in law so I could stay closer to the tournament. I was driving my wifes car (1999 V6 Accord) as it gets much better gas mileage than my C43. I came around a corner on HWY 11 going north and was coming up hill going about 60 MPH (55 MPH speed zone). After the corner was about a 100 yd straight away and I could see 2 cars at a stop sign on my right. Both cars were at a dead stop and appeared to be waiting until I passed. As I approached the cars the first car pulled out about 20 feet in front of me and tried to go straight across the HWY. The car seemed in no hurry and I had no time to avoid a collision. The best I could do was veer to the right to avoid a direct hit with the drivers door. Luckily I was able to miss the drivers door and hit the rear drivers side passenger door. When I hit the other car (Toyota Yaris) it spun 2 times across the HWY and ended up in a ditch on the opposite side of the road. Not sure how but I was pretty much uninjured and hopped out immediately to check on the passengers in the other car. I ran over to the car and could see blood on the drivers side window, I was able to make contact with the driver. It was an older man (64 years old) who had sustained a laceration to his head. The man seemed out of it (he had sustained a concussion). He finally was able to indicate to me that he thought he was ok. I ran over to the passenger side and it was an older woman (his mother 88 years old) and she was in lot of pain. While I was checking on them the 2nd car that was behind them had pulled over and called 911. The driver and passenger were both taken to the hospital via ambulance, I was checked out by the EMT's but didn't need an ambulance. I had my father in law take me to the hospital as I felt ok but still wanted to get checked out. The 2nd car was a father and son who told the police it was the other cars fault as they had pulled out in front of me and I had no way of avoiding a collision. The other driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way. My wifes car is totaled
I am LUCKY TO BE ALIVE!
Moral of the story:
Always wear your seat belt. I was able to walk away with a bloody nose and sore muscles after t-boning a car doing 60 MPH, I attribute this to wearing my seat belt and air bags.

Wow, that is insane! Glad your alright and lucky enough that you veered to the right. Can't imagine a direct hit on the driver door. I had something similar happen to me a long time ago when someone pulled out in front as well and all I could do was veer the other way so I wouldn't hit the other driver side door. That is def some scary stuff right there and thank God you walked away. That's why I always wear a seat belt, you never know about someone else on the road.

Something that did make me laugh was my wife said "it could have been worse, you could of been driving the AMG"
I LOVE MY WIFE
all kidding aside I'm just glad everyone survived.

Good to hear everyone is OK. I've driven that road many times in the past. On the bright side there is now one less Yaris on the road. I had one of those as a rental one time and it was the worst rental I've ever had. Even worse then a Kia or Hyundai or a crappy Chevy Aveo.

glad you are ok, get the e55. During night time when your wife is sleeping swap the 4.3 for the 55. And get the 4.3 in the 55 lol. would be funny unfortunatly an engine swap takes longer

503C43 - dude, you're a big part of this forum, glad to hear you came out of it OK! Also glad the AMG wasn't involved. Check yourself over the next 24-48 hours. That's when the shock and adrenalin will wear off and your body, if it's injured, will start to show aches and pains. Let us know how you are doing!

Glad everyones OK.
How about a used E class 4-matic? It's a tank.
When my wife was pregnant (16 years ago)
I sold her Honda Accord because she was commuting so much and you know how it is in the NW. Rain, snow, ice and a lot of heaver SUV's.
Bought her a nice used Audi 100 (A6).
That car got me hooked on German quality and safety.
Have a happy turkey day!
