I have found some links explaining the mods with photos...

Here is the thread from when I deleted my resonator. Similar concept except cut up past the cats. As I said, the pipes at the cats are roughly 2.25" and the pipe after the merge is roughly 2.75". DRB confirmed that measurement on the merged pipe in the thread below.
