C43 AMG
New Member!

I recently bought a 99 C43 120k miles!!!
I live in Northern Virginia and my name is Sherman

Here it is!!

Im not new to forums or cars, i had a stage 1 Audi A6

I am very happy to be an owner of a car so rare.
I don't plan on modding it as much as the audi, but I will need an LSD and the secondary cat and resonator delete ASAP. The growl of a V8 is intoxicating

Anyways, thanks for your time and I am looking forward to many happy years with this german muscle

Looks like you have a C36 front bumper Are those 18" AMG mono blocks?

Welcome to the club

Ya the car was in a fender bender, doesn't have the original c43 bumper.
Also the rims are 18' replicas, the original monoblocks were bent, chipping, and didn't hold air so the previous owner put the reps on

Welcome on the forum man! Are you planning on dropping the car a bit ? It would look really good with the 18'' wheels. Cheers!

I'm 50 50 on lowering it. The Audi always bottomed out and lost all it's luxury, but I do love the stance of a lowered car with some wheel spacers

Welcome Sherman!

A few questions:
  • Did you pick that up in NJ? I saw one for sale for the longest time there...also with the non-43 bumper
  • Whereabouts in NoVA are you?

Welcome and congrats on a great car. My vote is to lower the car to fill in the wheel wells. Here is my C280 with a C36 kit lowered on 18" Aero II Monoblocks.

Nice looking car. I just picked up a C36 dropped on H&R's and I can tell you I love the ride. I have had over 20 BMW's dropped on all sorts of springs and coilovers and honestly this thing rides great compared to them and I don't have to worry about it bottoming out. Looks are personal preference of course but with the 18's I think it would make the car having it down around the tires a little.

Cool. I'm in Alexandria myself. You should stop by a Cars and Coffee on the weekend. One of my friends has a C36 and 2 others have 560 SEC AMGs (one being a widebody). We could always use another AMG to add to the group.

Not sure if I've just never seen a black one with the AMG goodies, but a black C36 with the "sand" interior looks sick!! Wish there were more interior colour options on these cars

You are a true C36 enthusiast as you have isolated the dead give away that this car is not a C36. Aside from opening the hood all the other exterior clues are there....C36 exhaust and even C36 front calipers.

Wow! You definitely went all out. Even once you do open the hood it's hard to tell anyway. Mine didn't have the 3.6 crossover and the AMG fell of the engine, so I actually got scared and ran the engine number just so I could be really sure it was the 3.6l. But hey, if you want to ever complete the package, that engine's for sale

Oh man don't tempt me...a C36 motor would be wild. I have a 96 C36 so having both cars side by side it was just a matter of time before the C280 started getting C36 upgrades. I actually have a 3.6 crossover pipe but as I found out the valve cover is different to accomodate the larger crossover pipe. I wonder if my transmission can handle the 3.6L motor......

If it's the 4 it should handle it no problem. Those puppies are bulletproof

They don't work, haven't looked into why. I only paid 3550 for the car, 120k miles. It needed engine mounts, new valve cover gaskets, power locks weren't working, headlights don't have matching bulbs, it was in a front fender bender and other minor things. But my friend is a mechanic so i only pay for parts and get a giant discount on labor. It runs and drives extremely smooth, however, so even if i spend a few thousand on repairs/maintenance, I still got a great deal

I would bet the headlight wipers were just installed with the wrong orientation after the accident repair. $3550...what a steal.

Indeed the price is a good deal. I hope the vehicle lives up to the price paid...
