c43 driver side mirror oxidation blotches?
Hi everyone, so recently I noticed that my driver side mirror looked odd? The top of the mirror looked like it leaked some bronze liquid out? The mirror used to be completely bronze tinted. But now it has silver spots at the top? I was thinking of replacing it. I found some on ebay. Here's the website http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=121135975158

On autohauz I found some for $200. Has anyone ever ordered them from there website? And is that bronze tint mirror for the driver side a special type of mirror? Also heres the autohausze listing http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...Glass%20Insert

Quickly remove the mirror!.
The liquid inside the mirror is starting to run out and it is an excellent paint stripper! - it will destroy the paint on your mirror housing and do the same as it runs down your door!.
Still feeling the pain of mine ,the mirror is part of your auto dimming system it acts like a liquid crystal display. I now run standard non dimming mirrors on both sides, still have auto dimming rear view though.

the seal around the mirror gives out with time. it is a common flaw on all dimming mirrors, i have yet to see the mb rvm fail however the m3 crowd have problems with theres which damage the console and leather seats!
the liquid ran down my door and cut through into the the base colour making the silver turn brown, polishing off the clear coat helped but there is still a brown line, have to repaint the door.

rubber seal surround, is it sold separately from dealership?
or do you need to get complete mirror assembly?
is it an expensive part?

The are sealed one unit so you need to replace the mirror, price will vary depending on genuine item etc but they are not cheap!.

It started leaking today so I took it out. So is the driver side mirror always tinted? Or is it blue in the day time and tinted bronze at night? Because mines was always tinted.

Good move,I assume you avoided any damage from leaks?,sometimes you cant see the damage as the liquid pools in the back of the housing first.
Judging from other pics I've seen I'm fairly sure the mirror starts out looking only very slightly bronze/clear and gradually becomes dark bronze as the seals fail and the liquid oxidizes.
I never got to see mine work properly however I would assume its like the RVM and turns slightly greenish when light hits it at night.

Also, the auto dimming mirror has a large seal around it so looks different/smaller compared to the passenger side, I replaced both(passenger side was lightly scratched) so they are both blue , Looks ALOT better now they match.

I was looking at buying one of these but wanted to make sure it was the mirror and not just the backing. I have a messed up drivers side mirror as well (has been for the 3 years I have owned the car)
Has anyone purchased one of these before?

Autohauz is legit, I have ordered a TON of parts from them. Great prices and speedy shipping, I have never had a problem with them. From what I hear it is a dealership that is selling the parts cheap.

Im still having trouble ordering a auto dimming driver side mirror for my w202. I found tons of wesites that have the mirror but, noun of them specify that it has the auto dimming feature. I found alot that are ULO with the 5 pin connection. If the mirror is 5 pin then it has the auto dimming and heating feature? Here's the part number I looked up on google 210 810 01 21. Has anyone purchased a ULO brand? And it has the auto dimming feature?
