Thinking about selling my 2000 C43.....

No time due to work and kids to tinker.....

2000 C43, 122k miles, 18 monos...

the good...

two new front tires will be installed..
new battery to be installed...
no rips or tears on the interior...

the bad....will try and address some of these issues if I can find the time...

sunroof headliner dropping....
front bumper needs to be aligned...
dent on right side.....see pics....(may need front fender about $200, slight indentation on two doors, can't really see it in the pics)...
need to change windshield washer bottle as it leaks...
front bumper needs alignment....
cup holder is funky...
front wheel bearings need adjusting..
think i need to change one of my coils as I got a miss fire code when I last drove it awhile back.
oh, the two front fender liners are torn from being brittle...will order these tomorrow..
one key...
probably missing something, but will update when I install the new tires and go over the car..

work done in the past....

oil changes every 3k miles by me since 70k miles so no receipts.
lowered ....
plugs...
transmission plug and transmission flush..
all 4 oxygen sensors...
new wiper motor....
MAF
new windshield..
CPS

I'm thinking 6k...

What you guys think?

12' W204 C63 AMG coupe "T-Rex", 12' W451 Smart Fortwo Pulse (99' W202 C43 AMG + Ultima Can-Am sold)

Now on ebay, can't sell her for 6k as previously mentioned, at that price might as well as keep her for my 16 yr old daughter.

22 X3, 21 330e, 97 M3, 97 C36 (sold), but on the hunt for a clean, low-mile C43!
Sigh...too bad your C43 doesn't have the headlight wipers, otherwise I'd probably buy it! Anyway, at least you have a realistic idea of these cars' value unlike many others...for example, there are these local clowns near me who are trying to sell a 97 C36 w/ 77K miles for almost $13K!!! I asked them if I could take a hit of whatever they're smoking cuz it's obviously some good shiit. They didn't really appreciate the comment.

Can you post pics with :
1. headliner
2. front bumper problem
3. close-up with the dents.

I did replaced my headliner but the seat-belts don't retract any more , i guess the guy how did the job didn't know how to put them back correctly.

Did you replace the inner fender lining you were asking about in august? Is that from the car being lowered?
What about driver side mirror ?

If the battery is dead, as it was in January, how did you manage to open the car/truck?

YOU:
Me thinks I'm screwed." "Nothing happening...maybe I'll leave it for a bit. If it still fails, I'll try and trickle charge it."

You said you have to change the ignition coil due to misfire, did you had the chance to do it?

You said you can't sell it for 6k anymore ? How much you want now for it?

Please tell me what else you think would need to be done?

Edit: what is the situation with the suspension? What issues you have? Those 18 are OEM or REPLICA?

I need a daily driver , I have a 1997 C230 since 2006 with 240K+ miles , I been waiting for a C43 for many years , its just hard to find one with no problems. But I'm not in a hurry either, sooner or later I'll find one, maybe local - since I can inspect it myself .
6K is a good price, I would have to spend another G on shipping + registration + who knows what else needs to be fixed to make it reliable for daily driving . I know the tranny is a common problem , and I don't know how much will it last even if the 2000 model had a soft upgrade.

EDIT: What about rust ? Some pics from underneath the car too please

The last C was built over 13 years ago. If you're looking for a C43 with no problems, expect to spend top dollar or never find one.

A 99 with 81k miles and ZERO problems sold for $13k (asking price 14.5k) at a local dealership recently. I had talked to them and laughed in their face at the price. 2 weeks later, it sold.

Still cheaper to buy one for 4-6k and fix it up afterward.

We can, as long as it fits certain regs. It often has nothing to do with the physical attributes of the car, but more with the car's paperwork. I have a friend who works in the office at the NHTSA who handles exactly this sort of thing. It's really strange how it works. One can import a euro-spec Lamborghini that gets 4mpg, but cannot import a 2013 MB C-class diesel, due to it not being able to meet some made up regulation. You might very well be able to import your C43 though.

2000 facts...

saw this on benzworld....link http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w202...-2000-c43.html

Correction - there were *25* model year 2000 C43 vehicles imported to the USA.

The colors of these vehicles and how many:
Burgundy: 1
Black: 7
Brilliant Silver: 7
Fern White: 6
Obsidian Black: 4

Ten had black napa leather, one had dk.blue/black two-tone napa leather (a silver car), and fourteen had the silver/black two-tone napa leather
.

Anyone know how many Obsidian Black ones are still around?
Anyone have pictures of the Burgundy one?

Normal black is really not very impressive. Obsidian gives the car a bit more of an edge.

I have a 2000 obsidian black, so that's at least 2/4 still around.
