Questions about Akebono pads?
Perhaps within 2 years I will have to change my pads.
I don't drive my car much.
I had these pads on my car since 2005, they were used for approx 40000Km.
The idea is when my Porterfields are worn out I will install my newer 4 pot brake kit from W203 C55AMG.
I bought Akebono's Euro Ceramcs for my new brake kit.
The design of the Akebono pads on backside there is a metal plate on each pads.
Do I apply copper paste on these metal plates preventing squeeky brakes?
Who has Akebono's on his car?
Do you like these pads?
Is there great stopping power?
Are these pads rotor friendly?
Long life pads?
How clean are the rims from brake dust?
Thanks
I would NOT buy these again though. Severely less stopping power than the oem pads. Instantly on first drive I noticed they don't grab as well. Much more pedal required and overall less power. I tow my boat and snowmobiles a lot and it sucks with these, I would never buy again.
All oem on my c class. Yes they dust bad, but they work so well. You said you don't drive the car much, so who cares about dust, just keep them clean
the same reviews was for Akebono's so I got them by peoples recommendations for my new brake kit.
I just use liquid eco degreasing and then hose my car with water, never use schampoo as she never gets really dirty same thing goes with rims, Porterfields have soft dust which comes off easilly.
Jurid's are original on my C43 and they are the BEST!
However rims gets very filthy from dust
Porterfields has till now been VERY quiet and giving me great performance

did you grease with copper paste on metal plate back of the pads?
The are quiet on the C280, but squeak badly when I first back out of the garage cold on the E430.
On my ML350, the M/B pads don't dust as badly and brake pedal pressure is progressive, so I will likely keep them on that vehicle. If fact, with the stock pads for the ML the feel and pedal pressure is very much like the C and E.
Front - EUR682 is this correct? Tirerack.com shows it's compatible with the 1998 model. But when I search online from other vendors it's only compatible for the 1999 & 2000 model
. I emailed akebono-usa hopefully they reply backRear - EUR603... I believe this is correct

Don't you have to break in the pads to have them working at their best. I can deal with squealing at start but don't know about waking the dead
some people likes akebonos other diss them

First of all they do dust but LESS than the OE pads. The initial bite from cold is very good in all conditions. However, I am NOT happy with resistance to long term fade. OK, I drive very hard in the mountains (traffic permitting of course) and going downhill the fade kicks in relatively fast after two or three hairpins, with some hair raising instances
when I first discovered this phenomena.I contacted the manufacturer in the UK and it would seem that the compound in the yellows was modified not too long ago. Perhaps mine purchased in 2011 were of the older generation. In any case, with the next change of pads (not scheduled for the moment...$$$) I'll go back to trusted Padig racing pads. They NEVER fail and I've used them extensively in my Porsche racing days of past. Never, never faded even when the rotors were intense red all the time. Unfortunately they no longer list pads for the C43, but if I recall correctly you can get front pads for the VW Golf R32, as they are the same.

The red stuff should be fine for the C43 I would suspect since there is no kind of mountain driving here in NYC whatsoever. Seems like the EBC would be good for the street but are compromised under extreme driving conditions is my take on what you are saying correct?
I am also hoping mine are the newer compound since I just bought them.
