C43 Ignition Parts

Hey guys,

I've seen old threads around this but nothing very recent around replacement for the ignition parts on the C43. I'm talking spark plugs, wires and coil packs. I want to replace most of those - not sure about all the coil packs since they're wicked expensive - but at least all the spark plugs and wires at the same time.

I've read a fair bit but found some contradictory comments and feedback on aftermarket parts. Also, looking online I had some trouble finding all parts on the same website and decided which part (i.e. spark plug) to pick. I've seen that Magnecor KV85 were recommended and iridium for the spark plugs (NKG or Denso). Does someone happen to have the exact parts # and/or website that I could all buy from. If it's too complicated I'll just go OEM but there seem to be some good feedback (but old) about NKG and Denso and average feedback on the Magnecor KV85.

What are your thoughts and does anyone has experience with either magnecor wires or iridium spark plugs (why iridium over platinum?).

Thanks in advance guys!

For what it's worth, I replaced my plugs with Bosch plugs (7422) that I bought from Autohauz and Bosch spark plug wires (09850) purchased from Amazon. The wires were $115 with free shipping, I think the plugs were around $5 per. Did this at the end of last year.

Alright, thanks for the answer siegel. I've seen those on Autohauz as well and the price seems right. I was just looking for feedback on 'aftermarket' parts that many people talked about on this forum a year or two ago. But so far, not a great deal of responses

You can go with "Magnecor KV85", and "NGK BKR5EIX or Denso IK16"...

I have magnacore wires that were on my car for about 30k miles id say. Terrible quality, rubber ends never quarantee proper connection and not to mention that one of them ripped in half while i was trying to pull it off.

I got fed up and put pack my stock cables which honestly are solid quality. I didnt honestly notice any difference with bosh platinum plugs and magnacore wires on my car

Most of the 16 magnacore cables were showing signs of being deformed from the heat on the rubber ends when i pulled tjem out btw

Woah... thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'll try the Denso plugs and stick with cheaper OEM wires. Thanks PJmak, you're not the first one to call out the poor built quality of the magnecor and poor longevity too. It's a shame because even though it does not do a thing, it's still cool to have red wires :roll eyes:

OEM for the wires then and the price difference makes it even better

That's strange..!,

I'm using Magnecor wires since "3" years, no issues, no fades, you guys may got non-original magnecor's, or badly pulling them-off during plugs changed..!-!-!

Zayed,

Where did you buys your magnecor from? Did you call the company or ordered form a website? Because even though they might be a good product - which does not really sound like it from some of the feedback I've seen - I can't seem to find them from the most common parts websites like Autohauz...

I also heard about some fitting issue when installing but that might be due to wrong part too

I use Magnacor KV85 with Bosch plugs with no problem at all since 2 years now. I purchased the cables directly at the factory in the UK.
