Different Model Steering Wheel Work?

Does anyone know if the steering wheel from another model Benz fit our cars? Specifically, does a W208 steering wheel fit my C43?

I can imagine that most wheels are interchangeable, but not 100% sure. MB wouldn't want to have 10's of different types and sizes as that would increase stock and as we know stock is cash which isn't earning anything.

if you have a C43 wheel without peeling leather you could totally "donate" it to my restoration

is it worth retrofitting command nowadays?
it's an analog system, tv broadcasting in europe can not be received on this command anymore.
what's it like in US, is it still analog or digital tv broadcasting?

i think it will only work as a navigator gps and play music cd's but not as a tv receiver?

All wheels with single stage Airbag should fit (R170, W208, W210 pre Facelift).
Wheels with 2 stage Airbag will not fit (W203, W209, W211)

there's a video on youtube of a 99 C43 with w210 E55 wheel with buttons plus a w208 cluster and a comand 2.0 head unit all working flawlessly. all 3 are needed together to make it work right. I plan on doing this to at least one of my C43's in the future

I had no idea the comand ever worked as a television receiver. I'm pretty sure in the US they were always limited to GPS and radio/CD controls. Yes, they are very dated compared to modern technology but our entire car is dated. At least comand 2.0 is period-correct for any MB from the late 90's or early 2000's. It's not the w202's fault that MB decided not to let them have the "best" technology they had! It would have totally eliminated the urge to buy an E class if you could get all the same stuff in a C.

Who would want to watch a TV program when driving?
OK it may be nice to watch when you are with a chick in the back of the woods, but then you would be occupied with other things to do...

i didn't mean watching tv while driving that's dangerous!
maybe you have passengers who wants to watch tv on small command screen during a drive?
there were modules sold unblocking the command

i wouldn't retrofit this option on my car sinsce it's outdated and takes lots of time to install
i'm happy with my factory cd-nav which i only play cd's and nothing else
nav discs are expensive from stealership and they go out of date quick with new roads planted all the time

I'll probably only do it to my 1998. Some idiot previous owner gutted the entire sound system and replaced it with retarded pioneer head unit and speakers. The stock system in my 99 sounds way way better and doesn't look stupid.

Guy cut holes in speaker panels to install those stupid pioneer panels. So freaking ugly.

You'd basically need a whole donor car to do that properly. And it would not be worth the trouble in my eyes anyway. I wouldn't use that old outdated navigation system to save my life, and then you will lose your cubby space below your current radio also. You would need to add wiring and a different spiral ring to make this work, at minimum. If you didn't have a complete donor vehicle it would be very expensive project to lose your cubby storage and gain a worthless navigation screen.

To answer the posters question, yes a 208 wheel will work.

and the command really wouldn't work on a 1998 car since it doesn't use fiber optics. well anything is possible if you switch enough but that would be silly.

aside from the tragedy that is what he did to the interior wood paneling, I absolutely love it!

crikey, never thought about the 98 not having the right wiring. damn. looks like my 99 is the only candidate.

Anything before 1999 on CLK, E Class, S Class. SLK up to the end of when the 170 ended.
