Just replaced the alternator but still no go :/.

Didnt bother checking this one because its low miles and the car ran perfect before it was parted out.

I dunno what to check next :/

CPS, TPS.....

Good idea Use your second key if you have one as long as the battery inside is still good.

Also getting the battery charged for 24h could be a safe bet to make sure it's not on the brink of dying. All my battery failures have occurred when temps start dropping fast in the early winter months (usually around November....).

yeah and also keep open mind that it may be more than one problem. i notice on my car everything is fine and then multiple things tend to fail at the same time.

Seems to be a real mistery this problem.

Had a similair problem few monts ago with my M113 CLK.
Just suddenly the car died while driving. Difference is I was able to restart immediatly. Few days later it happend again, lose off power and shutdown.
They fixed this by replacing the Alternator. Never happened again.
I dont see how this would really help you but maybe you can use this information?

Its under a plastic cover on the back.

You can easilly get to it without taking the alternator off if you guve your self enough room under the car.

I took my whole thing off because I wanted to replace the alternator

Mickey,

^^PJmak is correct^^,

it's on the back of the alternator, it's white piny, super easy to replace,,

same theory with "W124/W140/R129/W210/W208/R170"

Seems weird..!,

CPS is the only this to remain,

check the battery of the key first, if they OK,

then try to unplug the battery with ECU connectors for about an our, then plug them back, after that, don't start the car,

just put the key on position 2, diagnose the car, if any "security/infrared/ignition/SRS" code appears, then got an issue with key access file in the ECU,,

hope don't have that, but prefer to do this to make sure, all these are fine..!

Couldnt find my spare key because I moved a few weeks back and have no idea where I packed it.

Swapped batteries with my c280 key(which works) and no go.(my c43 key is brand new just got it this summer)

Btw in case its the cats...can I drop the whole exhaust by just unbolting it from the engine or is it bolted in somewhere else?

I kbow it hangs on those rubber bushings in the back and probably somewhere in the middle right?

Theeres a small valve cover leak but not on that side.

The white does show inside the coil wire btw. Also it showes a bit on almost all of them.

Do you know a way to test these without a multimeter? I dont have one today?

You can simply unplug each coil while car is running, and see if there are difference, do that with all coils,

after that, diagnose the car & see if ECU saved all coils codes,

then clear the codes, diagnose it again, if any of coil code appears again, means you can figure out positively which coil that bother the ECU,,

after doing all that, try to pull out one spark plug to see if this whitey sneaks there..!

The white traces, could it be salt residues?

Ahh sorry, i thought it's running, then shut off after a while..!

don't think bad coils could cause the car to shut off, unless if some coils connectors got loose, that will interrupted the MSG/ECU file,,

is the car cracked but not fire-up..??

Hey PJ - long time, no talk. White could be residue from evaporated water... (have you ever pressure washed your engine and/or had a coolant leak?)

If needed, I have a set of etorx, spare CPS, and an SDS... Any/all is at your disposal if you need it.
