Exhaust Smell update!
So my mechanic who's good and has serviced stuff I can't do on my truck etc but hasn't done much with Mercedes, suspects the smell could be because the secondary cats are deleted and there are straight pipes there from a previous owner.
i disagreed with him because I'm pretty sure it's a pretty common thing to do to these?
So we suspect it could be a bad tank of gas or old gas bc I'm pretty sure the idiot I bought it off didn't put premium in it, and it's probably been sitting in the car for over 6 months.
also he did a diagnostic and nothing really came up but this one code which is a P1747 (transmission in safe mode)?
tranny shifts fine...
i think I am going to just run it for a good run and get he exhaust nice and hot and burn his tank of gas and hopefully this should clean it out.
welcome any of your thoughts on this regarding secondary cats delete and code.
thanks gents!

The secondary cats delete have no effect on emission controls. Mine has been flying through the tests no problem. We have stringent emission standards, similar to those in California, so guess that answers all questions.
Could be old or poor quality gas. Get her out on the road for a long drive with WOT from time to time and when everything is nice and warm to clear the cobwebs

if you can't drain your fuel tank, fill her up with fresh gas so the old gas and new gas getting mixed.
before you fill her up with fresh gas you can also add a bottle of STP injector cleaner so the STP blends with the new gas.
system might be clogged???

yep that's exactly what I'm going to do. Any other additives you guys think on top of the injector cleaner?

there are solvent additives in the gasoline, but another bottle of concentrate juice will give it an artery boost.
@ peppyhead depending on how much of the old gas is left in the tank, pour the STP additive or another brand you bougth, then put in some gas but don't fill up the new gas to the max.
if you have less gas in the tank the cleaning STP additive will give you a better cleaning of the injector system.
additives will be more concentrated for a better clean.
additives will do some good to your injectors but if they remove the funky fumes smell I dunno?

It's worth a try to get rid of the exhaust smell. I mean I think this car sat for about a year, and within that year driven maybe a couple of times to move it or whatever. And knowing the type of guy I bought it from he put reg gas in it for sure.
