FYI, you don't need to get the certificate in order to book. Just use your VIN when filling out the form. It takes a week or so and they will verify.

I did the Beginner course at COTA back in December, and it was absolutely worth going to, even if you have to pay your way.
That being said, the instructors told us that for 2017 they were changing up the curriculum for the Beginner class and significantly increasing the number of students for each session. They were making a big deal out of it because we were the last class to do the AutoX competition the way it has been set up, and all the instructors were competing to see whose class would be the last one to win it.
