So not in an argumentative way, but it seems like 245/35 and 275/30 is workable in terms of diameter. Using the link above, a stock 225/45 R18 is 25.97", and a 245/35 R19 is 25.75" (0.85% difference). A stock rear 245/40 R18 is 25.72", and a 275/30 is 25.50" (0.86% different). I'm hesitant about going that low profile in regards to ride and tire/rim safety, but it seems like it should work mechanically. Unless I'm missing something. Maybe they dont fill out the wheel well enough, and look small? This is if it's even feasible to get a 245 on under any circumstance.

not a fan of reducing diameter. stay the same or increase ~1%

just a comfort and visual thing for me.

Just 1/2”, the other 1/2” is on the outer face of the wheel. Keep in mind offset is measured from the centerline of the wheel width.

The 19” tire is smaller in diameter, so wheel gap from top of the tire to the fender arch will be a liiiitle bit bigger.

Yes, yes. Good point. Will post pics of inner clearance if I can get good ones. Havent had a chance to get to it today.

Some photos.

First photo, wheels straight on, no steering angle.

Drivers side wheel, full lock to the left, index finger for reference.

Drivers side wheel, full lock left, unobstructed view

After measuring my finger, there is about 1 cm inner clearance at full lock. This is a 16' c450 with the 18" wheels.

Seems like I'd need atleast another 15mm inner clearance to clear with an 8.5" rim and 245 tire. Doesn't seem that feasible (although that has already been said in this thread).

What wheels would you guys recommend that are light weight and durable for street use?
Does anyone know the stock weight? When I get this car I plan to ditch the stock tires and go with michelin summer tires, either pilot super sport or pilot sport 4s.

If you want light and durable, forged wheels and the way to go, but they are $$$. Stock weights are in this thread somewhere. Around 46lbs front 50 rear if I remember correctly.

So I'm wondering now how an 8.5 inch rim with offset of ~7mm would look, and if so what kind of spacer would I need rear? Would that front poke too much on stock ride height?

Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. It's been very helpful.

My OEM 19" front rim (14-spoke black with polished lip on a 2018 C43 cab) just cracked without any known trauma. I have a replacement on the way, but since I will need to swap out the summer tires soon I am looking to get all 4 new rims to go with and widen them up a bit.

@alexasa or anyone else with knowledge, feel free to answer if this will work:

Niche Misano M117. Stock height with no plans to lower.
Front: 19 x 8.5, offset available: 34 or 42.
Rear: 19 x 9.5, offset available: 35, 38, 50.

While I'm fine with them being flush, I personally don't mind the tires poking out a tiny bit so long as it doesn't cause any physical problem. I'm talking a cm or so - I'm not looking for a monster truck look. Would the front 42 and rear 38 work ok in that case? From what I've been reading, the 50 would rub inside I think?

I'm looking for black wheels with that concave look (the deeper the better) so if you have alternatives, please fire away.

Last question for now - fattest tires you can appropriately put on the 8.5 and 9.5 wheels? I assume it might have to do with the offset, but I'm looking for meaty. Not a fan at all of the flush tire/wheel or exposed rim lip.

Thanks for any input!

As far as I understand, from the replies I've gotten so far, putting an 8.5 inch wheel on the front is difficult at stock ride height. Largest tires you can go on 8.5/9.5 are 255/275 respectively. Largest that seems reasonable is a 235 front. One person above is running a 255/295 front/rear. I dont believe you rear should rub with your 9.5 inch 50mm offset. Concave wheels often offer low offsets which is desirable if you want an 8.5 front. Im probably going to end up with an 8"/9.5" front/rear when I finally decide what to buy.

done. may need a small spacer in the front ~3mm. rear will be less aggressive but the lower offset at stock height looks bad

What light weight 18" wheels have you guys gone with?
I'm not talking about about 20lb wheels either, talking about 19lbs or less. In 18" diameter

flow formed wheels barely come in at that weight (tsw has some offerings). you might need to go fully forged - which i'd recommend bc forged.

but you definitely need to do your own homework.

So in the end I just purchased a set of the 2019 facelift C43 AMG Matt/Satin Black with Silver rim wheels, along with some Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S's. This way my offset, tires etc are all the same and I don't have to worry about warranty or insurance, spacers etc.

My previous 19" A20540149007X23 and A20540149007X23 wheels straight off the C43 along with the Continental Contisportcontact SSR tires are all like new. No curbing etc on any of them. Figure I'll sell them on.

I must say, I'm surprised by how heavy the new wheels are compared to other aftermarket wheels. They're averaging to roughly 29lbs per wheel.

Having said that, I've seen YouTube vids of crashes with these wheels (or similar) where they hold shape and structure even when they're smashed directly into a tree at high speed, so at least they're solid.

New wheels.

Old wheels.

Picked up a set of these amg reps in 19x8+35 and 19x9+48. Not a revolutionary look but should be a bit more flush with oem + look

Had 19x8 +35 and 19x9 +48 fitted today. Nothing extreme but a nice oem+ look. I'd planned on up sizing to 235/265 but the tire guys reckoned there was only 3-4mm clearance and 235 on the front was no chance so went with stock tyres for now.

Undecided whether to lower or not. If i do I'll probably want some spacers which, in turn, may allow me to fit the 235 tyres.

The tyre guy made a comment that it felt very stiff. Not sure whether it is or whether it's in my head after his comment. Can't imagine a 225 on a 7.5 inch rim vs a 225 on 8 inch rim could make that much difference. Probably similar to a 235 on a 8.5 inch rim??

Little bit of concave in the rear.

When I went from 225/255 (19”) to 235/265 (20”) the car became a lot more comfortable.

How far can the sedan/wagon go in the rear?

Can a 20x10.5 wheel with 285 tire fit in the rear with lowering?

I've seen this on a C63 Sedan, and it shares the same doors and fenders as a C43 Sedan. I'm thinking it should fit?

yup - seen 305's in the rear. c63 sedan is the same so that's where you want to look. just no reason on the 43 for a functional purpose.
