2019 c43 coupe - OEM 19" wheels. Going to be lowered on KW HAS springs but only between 10-20mm all round. 2 questions:

Spacers - do i want a 12/15mm or 15/20mm set up? I've seen in other threads that 15/20 is better for lowered setups, but as im only dropping a small amount do i want 12/15?
Extended bolts - how much excess length can i have without having an issue?

Ordered custom wheels through ModBargains through VMR for my 2016 C450 (due
to the control arms and the center bore being slightly different than an Audi S4 and off memory even different than other Mercedes. I gave up on my 6 month long search and ordered custom.

the C450 has a different hub measurement going off all my research from last and without the correct hubcentric rings you are just putting yourself at danger. Many many C450 owners are running off the shelf wheels, but they are not actually true fitting. So I went custom

ordered them end of November and they should finally be here in 4-5 weeks.

can’t even remember the exact specs it’s been so long.

I think I did 19x8.5 ET30 front, 19x9.5 Et40 rear

Hi all,
I've looked through this thread and seen some encouraging info, but didn't find exact same parameters as I have, so I wanted to ask separately.
This here is my 2017 C43 with my previous setup (which was already there when i bought it, obviously someone just fitted the first cheapest solution they found before selling):
R20x8.5J MAM GT1 ET45 Rims all around. Unfortunately I don't remember currently how thick the spacers are, maybe 10mm. not sure though.
Front tyres: R20 235x35 92W Nankang's
Rear tyres: R20 255x30 97W Syron's




As you can see, those wheels sit well and in general, I didn't have fitment issues with them with the car. But what I did have, was tyre-rim fitment issues on the front. Namely, 235 was not wide enough and offered no rim protection, as you can see from the images below:

Those tyres were so worn that I had to throw them away and now I'm looking for a new setup. Ideally, i'm not looking to replace the rims, only fix and repaint them with powder coating.
And I am looking at PS4S-s, but my main concern is to not have so stretched out front tyres anymore, but I want some help on which ones would be best. I think for rear, 255x30 is the best choice anyways, so i'm not worried about that.

I heard from someone in one tyre shop that tyre models and designs can be so different that some 235s look so stretched out, but others with same width look more flush and offer more tyre protection. The issue here is that I don't know which models are like that. Would 235 PS4S sit better or not?
If not, then I'm considering getting 245 width for front. But with 245 my main concern is, does it fit without rubbing against anywhere? I did see in this thread, that people have even fitted 255 with 20x8.5 in the front before, so I guess 245 should be fine. But their ET-s have been different. Though my lack of info about my spacers is probably not helpful here. But just by looking at the images, I guess that 10mm more is fine.

And if I were to prefer 245 width, then I'm wondering which height to select? I've heard that the wheel diameter shouldn't change by more than 1.5%. But I guess that comparison should be made against the official recommended measurements by Mercedes, right? so R19 225x40 for fronts and R19 255x35 for rears.

If i'm comparing to previous tyres, R20 235x35, then:
R20 245x35 - would be 1.1% wider in diameter
R20 245x30 - 2.6% smaller

but comparing to original recommended R19 225x40, then:
R20 245x35 - 2.7% wider
R20 245x30 - 1.1% smaller


So by my logic, I think I should compare them against the original recommended measurements and then if 245 is a good width, then height should be 30.

So would this new setup for my 8.5J ET45 (with spacers) be good? (if 245 might not fit, i could still go for 235x35 but i'm afraid it would again be too stretched out):
R20 245x30 Michelin PS4S for front
R20 255x30 Michelin PS4S for rear



And finally, as I'm planning to repaint them, painting with silver lip would mean almost twice the cost, so i'm considering painting them full matte black. Would that look good? or should I get that silver lip at all costs
Or maybe consider any other colors that would suit that selenite magno grey? As all other elements are black, I think black would be best. But all black might "disappear" too much. Not sure though.

So I want to put these wheels onto my C43 ,they came off a saloon C63 205
wheel part number A2054012000
Fronts are 8.5 19 et38 with ps4s 245 40's, but i intend to switch to tyre 225 40 19
Rear are 9.5 19 et 56 with ps4s 265 35's, but i intend to switch to tyreTyre 255 35 19

Rears seemed to bolt on ok
I tried a 5mm spacer up front but seemed to be a bit tight against the control arm, slight rub

I will fix the chips on them of course :-)

any advice on making them fit,would be greatly appreciated

 

So after a year of waiting, my Enkei GTC02's are on. I also installed the H&R VTF's. We need to lift the rear up a bit and then get better pics but I am very happy with the outcome. Wheel specs are 19x8.5 +27 and 19x10 +40. Tires are same size as factory. Wheels were 66.5 hub bore so had them machined to 66.6+.

Check above for update. One year later lol. Took 6 months for the wheels to come in and was no point putting them on headed into the winter

255's on a 10inch wide wheel are within the recommended tire manufacturers specs. So the minimal stretch might not be your visual preference but it's not functionally "awful" and from a performance standpoint there's no benefit in adding the bigger tire. We don't make enough power to need additional tire and less rotational mass helps acceleration, braking, etc. Also the additional clearance is useful on an aggressive setup (0 rubbing) and the cars speedometer stays 100% accurate.

TLDR: Not making my car perform worse so it looks better to some random people lol.

Today, I've took my front wheels as I'm preparing for some caliper painting action and noticed this on my control arms.

I've got ET32 8.5 front with 235 tyre (new model: Continental SportContact 7) and as you can see the tyres left mark on both control arms...
Should I add a 2-3mm spacer? If so, any recommendation on the brand? H&R doesn't seem to make spacers less than 10mm for w205.

 

I’ve read and read and read lol I need some advice. Looking at ordering wheels but trying to make sure my offsets will work. Lowered on H&R springs, front wheels are going to be 19x8.5 +25 and rears 19x9.5 +45. Looks at tires being 235/40 and 265/35 . I’m ok with alittle poke up front but don’t won’t it being too excessive. Any thoughts or advice?

 

As has been said multiple times in this thread, 19x8.5 needs +30 in the front or you WILL rub.

 

Hi, sorry to be that guy, I have read through quite alot of pages of this thread, I have a C350e non AMG. I have purchased a pair of used Mercedes rims which I can't return and hope I haven't wasted my money.

All the rims are ET35 which seems odd since most of you guys say ET30/35 up front and then a bigger ET for the rears.


These are my current rims, front 225/45/18 and rear 245/40/18



I have purchased these 19" rims, all say ET35 inside the rim, never mind the tyres as they are all worn and need to be replaced. I plan on getting the rims refurbished but need to know they will fit my car before spending any more money on them.

Is there any tyres that will fit these rims and not rub against the fenders or control arms, I was planning on going with 225/45/19 front and 245/40/19 rear.

Would wheels from w203 have same 66.6mm (?) hub diameter as our w205 C450/C43 cars? Looking at some old 18" AMG wheels that seller claims were for C55. Waiting on pics of wheel size and/or MB numbers on back of wheels to see if there's any chance of fitment.

EDIT: I found in old threads that they will be 66.6, bu it doesn't look like the offsets will work.

 

my wheels are off the car and willing to part with them.

send me a message if interested. They need refinishing and require at least a spacer upfront.

 

Has anyone tried to fit these E or CLS wheels on C43/C450 w/ stock suspension? Any opinions on if it would work (spacers)? Seems pretty close to a fit to me, but I think I've read in this (LOOOONG) thread that 9.0 wide on the front is very difficult to accommodate. Thanks.

How much extra space is available between inner surface of wheel and suspension (or inner fender well?). I'm doing calculations with offset and back spacing to determine spacer sizes to locate the inner surfaces of the larger wheels in same place as stock. If there's room to tuck the wheels under the body some more, then it helps reduce risk of fender rubbing and wheels looking silly (in my opinion) sticking out. My napkin maths below. Thanks.

 

you either didn't read the thread or don't understand offsets.

19x8.5 et32 is basically rubbing inner suspension arm. It's nearly the most aggressive set-up you can run on inner suspension. Anything wider or less aggressive is going to rub inner arms. Obviously the lower you go the more negative camber you will have and the more you can fit on the outside. 9 inch wide does not fit upfront unless you're okay with 10mm of rim/tire poking (and that's lowered).

this does not apply to slammed and stretched setups.

- I have read this entire thread, but it was at least 4 to 6 weeks ago.
- I believe I understand offset. That first image on 1010tires is flipped from my drawings. They have 'front', or I wrote 'outside', on the right and I have it on the left. So, please recheck my drawings and comment.
- I wrote in my first of the two posts that I'm staying with standard suspension.
- Everyone talks about offset, but don't we really need to use that and calculate the back spacing also? If we know back spacing (I believe the distance from the hub mounting face to the inner wheel face), and the someone can document the extra space available, then we can determine how much more wheel can be "tucked under the body" compared to stock. It may only be 3 or 4 mm up front, more out back, but it would be good facts to document.
- I thought that I read that a 9" wide wheel won't fit up front, but I wanted to post these wheel questions to make sure.
- These would be for track use, so I'm not quite as worried about the looks of wheels sticking out too far (I believe what people call "aggressive"?), but am certainly concerned about any fender rubbing issues.

If you know 19x8.5 et32 barely fits then you know everything you need to know about backspacing. You're approaching it all wrong.

Just reference your min/max in order to check if the wheels you are looking at are viable. You're never going to rub fender on stock suspension regardless of poke because there simply isn't enough travel.

Back to basics, reference the extremes - pick something within them and use the calculator to convert widths/offsets to known fitments.
