INSANE quarter mile from tuned Audi RS3

I feel like the 340i and the S4 are the only cars we ever mention here, so I thought I'd mix things up a bit. If you aren't familiar with the RS3, Audi put their 2.5 liter I5 motor in a small awd sedan/hatch with their DSG transmission. It is a pretty solid performer in stock form, but makes huge power when modified. The car may look a little bland, but it sure is impressive on the track. I think we will see high 10 second C43s after turbo upgrades are released, but I doubt we will get the aftermarket support required to run 9s.

The first video is the current record holder for a 2018 RS3. APR installed: ECU & TCU Upgrades with E85, TTE625 drop-in stock-housing turbo, intake, catless dp, exhaust system, intercooler, fueling system, 18x8.5 Wheels 245x40R18 Hoosier drag radials, seats removed. Yeah, it has had some work done, but it isn't a crazy build (I'm guessing 6k in mods). The owner daily drives it. 0-60 in 2.44 and a 9 second quarter mile...

Second video is an APR stage 1 tune with an ethanol mix, rear seat delete, and sticky tires only. It ran a 10.55 in the quarter. VERY fast times with minimal mods.

The C43 might break into 10s, but you are going to break the tranny within 2 or 3 track days. You heard it here first.

Didn't you say in another thread that you are beginning to have signs of transmission wear on your 43?

Damn 10.5 on tune tires and ethanol....Very impressive, but like others said i cant get over the looks. C43 much more aesthetic. Although if i was racing a lot, i'd def pick the RS3

Yeah, the sedan doesn't do it for me, I would go with the wagon. I looked at leasing one but the rates were insane, too close the Alfa Giulia QV rates. I would get that in a heartbeat over the RS3.

Wearing out, slipping, showing early signs of failure. However you would like to phrase it.

I thought it was Munis, might have been someone else. No one here has really pushed these cars hard because the aftermarket support isn't there and parts are so expensive if something does break.

Not failures, I'm not trying to spread any false rumors.

Hot damn I don't know if I've ever seen someone properly use "INSANE" in a thread title until today lol. I was not expecting to hear a 9! Well hell yeah! Audi's don't often get the credit they deserve to be honest. Even I had no idea the RS3 was this capable with just bolt-ons. Glad to learn this here rather than running into one on the street and embarrassing myself LOL

Haha! I definitely agree. So much so that I've been saying the same thing for almost 2 years now. And I'm sure I wasn't the first back then either

And FWIW, I never talked about track times. I always figured these "Speedshift" trannys are probably gonna give out in the 500-600Awtq area. Great gearbox if you ask me. Especially for being a single shaft unit, but just not designed for what these 3.0L motors are so easily capable of

No, you are right, no failures. Wear is not the right word either, I never got it any tranny slippage. Though my tranny has some weird charecteristics which started very recently. Like there is a clunk when the gear shifts from 2nd to 1st in S+ while slowing down. This never used to happen brand new. Sounds like a play in front axle may be? Dunno. Unknown territories. I should mention though I have very recently hit 45k kilometers. 25k kilometers of it tuned. Having driven the car hard as much as I have, I do not think this tranny will survive a 10 second pull. That is just my gut feeling from my experience with this car.

Henry disagrees though haha.

I feel so too. The engine for all purposes feels absolutely solid. The tranny on this car never inspired the equal amount of confidence the engine inspired in me.

Yea not worth it at that point, i always like to compare the lease prices with cars i might also purchase. Scatpack's, vettes and camaro ss lease pretty good and got ton of power, but my last car was a hemi so c43 appealed to me the most for the price/performance and i wanted something german. I honestly thought rs3 would be around the same price considering the msrp but i'd never pay alfa guila qv rates for it...Only thing i do contemplate now is If i should've got a Vette instead of the C43...
