Sounded like bad toilet plumbing, not sporty at all and very unlike what one would associate with a performance car. I would forgive it if it were merely a swish and blow off sound like every other turbo car, but on this car it’s just bad noise. Sometimes sounds like my stomach when I’m extremely hungry. Especially embarrassing when I had passengers. Tried to tolerate for a few weeks, then I finally replaced with drop-in filters. I have a set of BMS intake, but was told hat it would sound the same so I haven’t installed it yet.

I think the BMS system would be similar, or perhaps even better given that they upgrade the intake pipes for better flow, but I think it will sound the same and I won’t like it.

That being said, I am working on my own airbox design and maybe when I’m done I can share the details with you.
That would be amazing to see for sure!
So interesting that that seems to be a common response by other users of the CAI.
Is it the open air design that creates this “toilet sucking” sound?
Was thinking about going with the BMS.
I’ll have to search videos of it ,before pulling the trigger, with it installed and see if I can hear the noise.

Just posting where I got the front carbon fiber lip as I can’t pm photos, and if anyone else following this thread is interested as well.
Bought it from JC Sportsline off of Amazon.
For the price, the quality of the 2x2 twill was nice. Hadn’t had any issues with the clear turning color in the sun. Had heard this could be an issue with some cheaper Chinese/overseas knockoffs.
Customer service was great as the first lip that was shipped came cracked; easily repairable... but they basically said keep it and they sent another one.
Fit is spot on if you have the sport package.

@b6tbfmp
Just posting as well where I got the carbon fiber splitter. Was looking for one specific for our model but only found a universal one.
There are a few others for different cars ford, Subaru etc but for price this one worked out well. The 2x2 twill and direction matched with the rest of the car It is 66” wide but could be 70”-72”.
Found as well the CF splitter support rods.
Very easy to install. Used toggle bolts for the upper inserts so I didn’t have to remove the entire bumper.
With the carbon fiber splitter it is very stiff so to prevent vibration and potential chipping over time with the added down force and the hardware rubbing against the surface I added in some polyprolene washer/spacers.
Another pearl with this install is the microbolts in the hardware have a tendency to loosen up. I didn’t want any noticeable blue or red locktite showing; so a little bit of clear outdoor waterproof “super glue” works perfect to lock everything in.
Cheers!

Hey @sliqdaddy91 thanks for following the thread.
No official dragy numbers yet. Been having bad rain here in texas and with all the construction hard to find a spot.
This weekend however found a nice spot with a stop sign that shoots straight onto a decent back country road with a 55mph speed limit. (Nice!)
Will use that spot here shortly to get some preliminary 0-60 times.
Overall, the custom rods and pistons are currently being fabricated by Top End Performance at a lower 9.8 compression.
From there motor gets pulled and everything gets installed along with new ARP head studs.
AMR is booked up until after SEMA so the car is planned to be shipped around 1st week in December so hopefully everything will be done for some nice dyno results as a Xmas present to myself and all who might be interested. 😁 😆
Stay tuned!

Steve at Top End Performance has been really great and accommodating when it comes to custom orders, I have done quite a number of builds over the years using custom orders from him and all the engines are still going strong.

Jump on the Hardy or Westpark after midnight. Those roads are wide open late night/early morning.

Also, we need to run my tune only 43 vs you at some point. I want to see how much difference the turbo upgrade makes.

Update: Forged Pistons & Rods are in!

Update:
Got home today and at my front door was a big surprise. Custom forged JE pistons and Pauter 4340 rods are in!!
Thanks to Steve at Top End Performance for the time, education, and help with this build.
Currently trying to talk with Alicia over at Ron Customs for a custom build of an upgraded radiator and heat exchanger. Unfortunately they are 10-12 weeks out. We’ll see.

When all is said and done next step is for JP Euro to pull the motor and install everything.
Hope you all like the photos and I also posted specs as well.

Don't forget to get the piston ring gap specs and provide them to the engine builder. The rings do not come pre-gapped.

I absolutely love what you did with the c450, not visualy (each to its own) but i guess the beast deserves a proper presence. I totaly get your love for the c450. I have a glc 43 and drove the 63s and a stelvio quadrifolio. And have to say the 63 has a nice torque and sound but its frdaking heavy the 160 kilos extra you feel dramatically. If you could transplantate the stelvio engine into glc 43 that would be the perfect car for me. The 43 feels light footed like the stelvio but a bit lowered.

You could let the engine builder decide the gaps based on the guideline himself. Or you could also get Steve to suggest the values you should you based on the type of rings he supplied (JE have a few types), size of the pistons and the intended application/usage. I find it would be less error and less subject to personal interpretation if you got the values and gave them to the builder.

Yeah not much into Facebook. Thought about doing instagram but figure I’d keep everything in one place.

Thanks for the support!
Yeah the SQ looks pretty nice as well.
The 63 is one beast but everyone and their grandmother has one out in my neck of the woods; wanted something different.
Glad to hear another person that feels the 450 love 😁👍

What power level are the rods rated to? Will you will be using the stock crank?
I am really looking forward to seeing this all come together. Hope it goes well.

Hey Gman,
Thanks for following this thread and my journey with this project. 😁👍
If I recall, from Steve Nelson, they are rated at 250whp each; so cumulatively the working rating is 1200+ whp.
Yes, currently will be using the stock sleeves and the stock crank. Guess would be cool to have a full billet forged crank.
The fun in it all, and the challenge, with this project is that no aftermarket companies supply these parts so as you can already see almost everything is custom builds.
Still trying to track down someone who can make me an upgraded radiator and heat exchanger.
Cheers and thanks again for following!

I once quoted the ppl @ Vaeth its a german well known mercedes tuner and they offered to me a stage 2 for the glc 43 with 460 hp and a second air to water cooler. Maybe you can try them they doo also fuel cooling kits. They are thd only ones who doo that as far ss i know. The also rebuild old engines so you can try
https://www.vaeth.com/
The other seriouse tuners over here are GAD
They doo almost everything if you have enough money 900 hp glc 63 ...
4 wheel drive e 63 coupe (the old one) with 1200hp
