2016 C450 AMG turbo upgrade project








Really glad to do the full engine pull and tear down/rebuild since they found coolant in the oil and some metal shavings…possibly the oil cooler failed went or the head gasket was leaking.
Good thing they caught all that before just slapping on some turbos and putting the pedal to the metal lol.
We’ll see what else they find as they continue.

Motor is back from the machine shop, cleaned, and passed pressure tests etc so block looks good.
My man Cesario at SVG is putting the bottom end back together but a little stall due to some new replacement bolts being backordered.
AMR is about to ship @turbokits.com upgraded turbos over to Cali from CT for SVG to install.
Hopefully we’ll also make progress with starting ordering/fabrication of the custom wide body kit.

From what we can gather it seems that one or both of the stock turbos must be cracked somewhere.
What’s even more interesting is that I originally bought the car from CarMax with 11K mikes on it.
However when SVG pulled the motor and the head off it definitely appeared someone had already opened up the motor to do some work.???
No records at MB or Carmax showing it. So it’s a scratcher for sure.
In all it’s a good thing that I decided to do the engine rebuild before hand rather than just slapping on the turbos and calling it a day…and then the engine blows. LOL

Hey man, been a few months since the last update! How’s the build going?




Been a minute so wanted to update you all.
So build was slightly stalled as the head bolts were back ordered for along time.
Should be coming in a few weeks.
Because of the water leak from one of the cracked turbos full tear down is done. CAM gears, valves, oil intercooler, and water pump all being replaced.
Turbokit.com turbos arrived at SVG with their pretty PTP custom wraps to be installed as well.
Custom wide body kit is almost done being made and should ship from overseas in a few weeks too.
Newest addition is my ugly wrapped rear trunk is getting a new carbon fiber skinning to match the carb fiber Imp spoiler.

Engine is coming together, Wagner kit, fuel rail, and HPFP is in.
Carbon fiber trunk is finished and it, carbon fiber hood, side mirrors and spoiler have been PPF wrapped in Stek.
Waiting for bolts, turbos, in tank fuel pump installed and body kit to be finished and shipped.

Just an update the in tank LPFP is in and motor is all back together and in.
They found a bad front dif bearing so that was replaced too.
Wide body kit is done and should hopefully ship out next week.
Now just waiting for @AMR_Matt to hook us up with a basic starter tune so we can move it around the block to make sure everything is working properly before shipping it out.
Originally had the AMR P2 Stage 2 tune package but now with the Spool HPFP, LPFP and larger fuel rail engine is getting way more fuel and either doesn’t start or runs real rough before stalling out.
I’ll make another update once we get that basic tune on board.

Ordered custom boost, AFR gauges from Speedhut.
Everything is finally put back together (Cesario is the man) and starter tune just to get it running came in with the AMR comp cable. Thanks @AMR_Matt !

So as many of you have been following this C450 one off project build which so far has taken all most three years.
Been itching to get into a fun daily driver with some whp and was zeroing in on a C63 507 and to then build later.
That said I know this isn’t the GTRlife forum but wanted to share my new DD and current build project while the C450amg is moving along.
Picked it up from a collector who never drove it.
Blank canvas 2015 Nissan GT-R Black 10K miles full professional installed Liberty walk wide body with custom deep dish 3 piece Savini rims and air ride suspension.
Completely stock motor, tranny; not even a tune.
Looking forward to this build as well.
That said thanks everyone for following this C450 project and hopefully get that Instagram up so you can see both projects.
