After further review it looks like BMS's problem is the removal of those plastic intake tubes. The MHT "set up" makes use of this plastic piping to focus airflow directly on the intake filter. BMS probably has to work harder to pull in the air because these pipes are removed during install.
You went with the MST? I think the way it’s made makes for cooler air than the BMS. The BMS is sucking air straight from the motor. The “ram air” is no longer doing anything once it’s installed.

The way that the BMS is designed is so that cold air enters through the same front apertures at speed and creates a high pressure area at the top and rear area of the engine where the air filters are located, creating a denser charge.
At high speed the BMS would be superior in my opinion. However, at idle and in stop and go traffic, the MST provides a path for cooler air to be supplied to the air filters, although it is arguable if it even pulls the air through that path even though it is there because it is not sealed. Air will come in from paths of least resistance and that means surrounding air and not from those tubes when the car is not moving.
The MST retains the sound cancelling design of the original intake so it is quieter than the BMS. The BMS has enlarged intake tubes so you will get better flow than the MST, but much more noise.
Both systems are flawed, so it depends what you are using it for, and whether you can take advantage of their good points and if you can accept their bad points.
The true compromise all around is the stock air filter setup with drop-in filters, especially when you can’t tolerate the sound of the upgrades. That’s what I ended up using, having tried both the MST and BMS.

I've ended up with the same setup after trying BMS. There are things that I've been tempted to do in order to modify the OEM intakes but honestly - it's just for the sake of tinkering.

I'm going to disagree with you there Mr Wizzard. BMS sems poorly designed in that air is almost restricted from getting to the filter based on position and composition. Yes the inlet tubes are larger but that's not going to do much good if the air comming in is restricted.
As for the sound, your probably right since the filters are enclosed. I'm sure it'll sound different either way. Guess I could add BOV's to the equation if I wanna "make some noise", I'd prefer to make more power at this point and the Dyno sheet for the MST seemed to have less jitter

I have owned and fitted both intakes and the BMS is less restricted for sure, with 100% certainty. Compared to the BMS, the MST filters are more restricted by the metal plates and housing while the BMS is more free to air. Don’t go by pictures, you have to have them in hand to make a proper judgment.
I have a facelift 19 and the bms intakes are designed so poorly that they suck the bonnet material from the top of the hood and they heat soak, I reached out to payam w a concern but they just didn’t care as the cash for the intakes was despoited into their accounts when I got the intakes now I regret them, they literally suck on the mesh of the top of the hood i even sent the pic to payam and he’s just delusional about his teams design as it clearly doesn’t work for my car and think that stock air box was good cause think about it amg tested this car over a 100 times, you can’t outsmartthe engineers that carefully made the car I think getting a intercooler upgrade is a smarter decision then spending 400-500 usd on these junky intakes from both companies that make your car sound like a toilet and the bms filters lol PS EVEN EUROCHARGED CANADA who are leading the c43 tune R/D said that the air intakes from bms are basically useless cant wait till a proper company makes proper air intakes for this beautiful yet growing platform , love jb4 HATEEE THE INTAKES GOD PLEASE KEEP STOCK

Heheh, yeah, that’s why I run stock air boxes with drop-in filters. The best compromise for me.

Good Intel, and I agree for the most part. I think between the 2 options MST is closer to stock. It keeps most of the OEM "plumbing" and simply removes the air box and replaces it with a "short ram" intake solution
ALSO, cleaning the intakes is annoying as I’ve had them for over 35k kilometres and cleaning all that material ain’t fun lol, trust me you’d rather have a stock air box without having to worry to clean it PEOPLE STOP BUYING GIMMICKS GIVE IT TIME OUR PLATFORM IS NEW BUT WE HAVE SOME REALLY COOL PEOPLE W 43’s working to find solutions Or companies doing R/D just give it time we will eventually have a better platform then what it is now so for now stick to stock airboxes till a proper company or burger makes intakes that actually work for the car, the intakes only somewhat work when the car is moving
The intakes only work when the car is running so stock airbox actually supports the flow of the air towards the car whereas the other intakes don’t help the colder air flow to the intake Y’all can make y’all stock intakes Like this works better then bms or mst

Looks like you could still do that with an MST.
What's the name of that thermal foil stuff again? Got a link?
It’s just reflection gold heat tape lol it helps w warm temps but I wouldn’t reccomend mst be to Frank if you love your car stop experimenting w half assed designed intakes I’ve had my car for about 60k kilometres on a facelift c43 I’ve tried/tested about most of the things out there for this car and the intake market/support for this platform is *** atm but Ik some reputable brands working at the moment to make some nice intakes THAT ACC WORK just be patient guys it’s the greatest gift you have in life, I went from feeling hopeless about this platform to seeing the growth and things actually move forward again give it time and patience and watch beautiful things flourish for this platform
I’ve readjusted the intakes a million times to no avail they are just designed so poorly if you want a intake that sucks the mesh on the bonnet have fun 😂😂 I gave up and stopped using them As you can see it presses agaisnt the mesh HOPE YOU SEE THIS PAYAM OR WHOEVER FROM THE BMS TEAM make a version 3 fix your mistakes and make the intakes a tad smaller yeah maybe then I might think about it.... sike I lied y’all had my trust till I saw what garbage support y’all have for your customers
Don’t even get me started on the stupid heat shield it’s trash as **** lmao I hate these intakes w a passion I hit the same quarter mile timings without them w the stock air box they literally do nothing if y’all need I can post my quarter mile times if anything my times improved by .2-.3 of a second w the stock air box lol

What "reputable brands" are you talking about?
And did you try the MST or no?

Yeah, I feel like I dodged the bullet on BMS, looks like poor engineering, from the jump. Makes me not want to by any of their stuff
This company is working on c43 air intakes at the moment please show support on their ig for c43 air intakes so they are able to see the demand for them and do r/d and make them faster

No offense, but it sounds like another small small off brand company but I'll check it out.

The BMS intake offers the largest filters by far and is the only one that addresses the actual restriction in the intake path. In terms of the top of your filters touching the hood insulation we had a few reports of that with V1 and lowered the filters around 1/2", not had any reports of it since unless filters are tightened down in a tilted orientation when installed. There is so much filter surface area even if you tapped up half of each filter it wouldn't matter as far as performance goes.
I'm not surprised a tune competitor would say our intakes are bad, lol.
Bro what do you mean by tune competitor lmao, I’m a consumer I bought these intakes thinking they would work lovely w my car but they didn’t and when I emailed y’all about it, y’all just offered new intakes for half the price like lmfao don’t sell intakes if you can’t make them properly for the car they were designed for, I just want good air intakes for my car that’s all if burger improves their design I will buy another pair I have no issue w burger I have issue w the support I bought these intakes thinking they will do what I require them to do instead of heatsoaking my car but anyway if you make a version 3 I wouldn’t mind buying them and if they are good **** it il leave a good review and take back what I said
