Latest mod on my 21 C43

I finally got around to installing my 19" wheels. I think they look awesome but there's definitely a ride penalty over the stock 18" wheels. The ride isn't much stiffer (I have Michelin PS4 tires on the 19"s) but there's more road noise that transmits into the car. I started blacking out the handles although they're tough to do right. I still have to black out the chrome strip on the end. Next up would be the panamericana grille.

Congratulations on the new wheels! I too had 18” OEM wheels, changed to 20’s and now 19’s. Both rode better than the stock 18’s on rft. What tire pressures are you using? I used to put 38psi f, 36psi r. Those pressures were fine, but 34psi f and 32psi r that I have on my 19’s now ride and perform even better. I also hit a huge pothole on these new pressures and my rims and tires are fine.

Very nice!
Might be a stupid question but what are you guys doing without run flats? Have you bought a spare and squeezed it in the back or just taking the risk?

I have an air pump and flat fix kit. I've fixed several flats easily in the past. The only time I'd be screwed is if the tire ruptured.

I was running 39 in the front and 34 I'm the rear, that's what the car plate recommended. Maybe I'll try lowering the pressure.

AAA membership.

Plus, I had a flat on my “run-flats” and it was almost instantly a “flat-flat.” I think reliance upon a run-flat tire is false security.

Yes on top of that, from my experience, the stiffer sidewalls has a tendency of bending wheels when it comes in contact with a pothole. Not a fan of the ride quality of the run-flats either. I would even say that there is an increased risk of having flats with run-flats compared to conventional tires, I had run-flats that bulged (just my opinion and experience anyways)

Fair enough. I'm due to pick up a 2021 C43 Wagon next week and from previous experience hate run flats. My plan is to see if I can squeeze a spare in the back underneath the boot/"trunk" floor.

So I'm good with the ride of the 19 inch wheels but I have to say these tires PS4 are making a ton of road noise. We just did a 1.5 hour highway trip and it was ridiculously loud in the car. It was quiet with my 18 inch run flats. I have ps4s tires on my Corvette and they are quiet so I'm not really sure what the issue is. Keep in mind these tires/wheels were on another car before I bought them. I'm wondering if they have some strange wear pattern although they look fine. Thoughts? I thought maybe lowering pressure would help but I'm reading lower pressure will just make them louder.

They're standard size 19" wheels with PS4 tires. They were from an earlier year C43 and he powder coated them when I bought them.

I’m debating powder coating my factory wheels or buying after market.

My 17 c43 has these wheels:

I don’t like the machine lip or the spoke faces machined either.

I also wish they had a concave design, but think they might look better powder coated.

What do you guys think?

Just so I'm not mistaken, can someone confirm that the 19" factory upgraded wheels which I have on my 2021 C43 are indeed run flat? I assumed they are and I don't have a flat repair or compressor kit in the trunk like the C63s has. I'll have to take a closer look at the tire -- does it actually say run flat on the darn thing?

Go for it. I agree, I think all black wheels looks better. Plus it's harder to tell if they're dirty unless you go gloss black.

I’ve been designing mock-ups in Photoshop of different wheels treatments. Considering gloss white with red stripe & amg wordmark, copper and satin black with red stripe and amg wordmark.

Luckily I’m a graphic designer lol!

Powder Coating mock-ups for my c43 AMG wheels: gloss white, copper, gloss black.

I'd go with the black. Not a fan of the white and I think you'd get tired of the court pretty quickly. Try it a graphite color, that may be better than black.

C43 Designo White and Black Napa Leather interior.

@ctsvette I’m leaning towards the white actually, without the red stripe. Was at shop today that would do the work and they liked both copper and white.

I have black and white Designo interior with red seat belts, so that’s why I’m leaning that way — to match interior.

3-up C43 AMG wheel powder coating concepts: Gloss White w/ Red Stripe, Gloss White and Copper.
