Upgrading HPFP and LPFP pumps

So I was looking into upgrading the HPFP and LPFP fuel pumps in my C43. From what I’m seeing, it seems that the 2020 E63 LPFP is very similar and could almost be a straight swap?

With regards to the HPFP, again the ones from used in the M157/M278 engines also seem to be almost identical just with uprated max pressure tolerances. From my knowledge It seems that most Mercedes AMG cars are fitted with a variation of the HDP5PE pump by Bosch.

If anyone wants to check, the part numbers are

LPFP: A2054708501
HPFP: A2780701201

Yes, I know that Spool Performance have manufactured both pumps but they are quite expensive compared to these alternatives.

Pretty interesting! My question (s), I suppose is/are what's the point? If you're looking for 500+ whp than sure maybe, but is the upgraded pumps necessarily needed? Has anyone found the limits to the stock systems?

Still interesting!

So I actually started looking because of this thread (https://mbworld.org/forums/c450-c43-...fuel-pump.html). Where somebody claimed they have done it but didn’t provide more details than that. Plus as per respond 17 in the thread, it seems that the HPFP is the bottle neck to the system.

So whilst you’re right that it’s probably not necessary to do unless you’re running 500whp, it may still be worth doing for that peace of mind knowing that the engine will not run lean and you’re well within the pumps limitations.

the only potential issue that I can see you may run into is if you are planning on adding E85 tunes. Which is where the Spool Performance kits would really come into their own.

Makes a whole lotta sense! Hmmm my Ctsv is corn fed, wonder if the c450/c43 injectors are rated for it? May need to upgrade those as well? Keep us informed for sure!

i have upgraded both the LPFP and HPFP. Once you run any amount of e content with an aggressive tune, it is a need to get the HPFP. Once you run over e30 fuel (ie. e40 or e50) the LPFP is also recommended.

I run e50 daily with the martin tuning LPFP and the spool HPFP FX180.

Martintuning.com is the go to place for me and where I bought the HPFP and LPFP. The performance speaks for itself! I tried the e63 pump in the other thread but it didnt work. It was facing the wrong way and I think its the same size as our c43 oem. The c43 has 1 pump and the e63 has 2 pumps. One of the 2 pumps is the same part number as the e63. but the other e63 pump is not bigger, just clocked differently to fit on the motor.
