Yeah, but if the engine is de-tuned by software so that it has 50-70 less hp then it should at 451 or 457hp then the software upgrade would be getting back what was taken away and adding 50-30hp on top of that. Even the 63 engines in the CL and S that put out 518 are not putting out there full potential in programing. Renntech can add 33hp and 30tq on them putting them up to 551hp and 495tq. Now imagine those numbers on the C63. That would be a mid eleven second car easy and be faster then the 65's.
Tuning the S65 engine is a special case. It's not that software changes on a turbocharged car are particularly effective; it's that the S/SL/CL65 ECU contains a torque limiter to protect the transmission. It limits boost in the midrange. All the tuners need to do is disable it and they have another 100 ft-lbs. The stock ECU also has a conservative redline. Raise that as well and 100 HP is easy, especially if you optimize the maps for better fuel. This is not a typical situation for a tuner with either a normally aspirated or forced induction engine.

Any chance with addtional mods (ie. headers, exhaust, intake, trottle body, cams, crank shaft, etc.) we could get this car up to 600 or 650hp? I want to be able to smoke a Z06 with this car. Anyway it would be crazy if software alone could add 100hp to it.
Forced induction will be the next step, however 11.3:1 CR limits boost on street gas to 3-4 psi at best.
I am getting baselines on client's E63 next week.....

Actually.......I've been wondering about that.
Why is that? How is it something so vile as the new M3 (IMHO) gets so much press, when the better looking, and probably better performing C63 gets less? Makes no sense.
I assume it has to do with the M3 being historically, the better car. But given what we know now, I think this will be the first time the C Class might actually out-class and out-gun the BMW......
The AMG has the BMW on looks, with light mods the AMG can easily out-gun, out-drag, and out-perform the BMW, the AMG has the better interior, etc, etc.
The only saving grace the M3 has is it's legendary handling......and I'm betting there's even a solution to beat that problem.......

I believe the two facts above are the same case with 63 engine. It has conservative torque limiter and conservative redline, therefore power upgrade wouldn't be that hard to achieve. However, I also agree with you that a turbocharged engine is a lot easier to remap for a decent power gain. In our case with this particular n/a engine, 100 additional hp might be too much of a wishful thinking. But adding 40-45hp + 40-45 torque would be fairly viable. And depending on the real hp after dyno, 40-45 additional hp might be more than enough for this car, considering its size and weight.

The CLK63 has 24 more DIN HP than the C63. I assume this will be easy to get with ECU tuning. I think much more than that will require steel tubing.

Nope. The torque limiter is unique to the 65 engine because without it the engine would produce more than the 738 ft-lb the strongest MB automatic is certified for. The 63 engine can't come close to that. It also works by limiting boost. That's not applicable to the 63, obviously. And the redline of the 63 is over 7,000 RPM. It's one of the most important characteristics of the engine. (The 65's is below 6,000 RPM.) Max power of the S63 is at 6,800 RPM vs. 4,800 RPM for the 65. There just isn't the built-in tuning potential in this ECU.

One with 4 wheels
The M3 is one of those legendary benchmarks by which comparable cars are judged. So each new M3 is viewed as a harbinger of the future for BMW and all cars that compete with it.
Like it or not, the C63 (like the RS4) are always in "follow" mode rather than "lead" mode when it comes to all-out performance sedans. It would take a major, long-term flop by BMW to change this.

AMG
I like all three of em, Cant wait to see them battle but... you know how most magazines are " M3 comes in first (because its manual and blah blah), C63 in Second (its faster but there going to say the M3 has better handling yarda yarda) And the IS-F would obviously be last (But really really close)
But we shall see
Cant wait

Obsidian Black C43, Silver C43, Silver Carlsson E-class wagon, Brabus G-class
I hope it handles better than M3 and I hope I can order a wagon version all black and de-badged. I still dream about a Brabus C60 W202 wagon that I almost brought over from Europe. So C63 would fullfill that void.
AMG should be able to provide the program to get the most of these engines. Unfotunately, it's tougher to get it unless you're in Germany or if you have connections. It doesn't matter. Renntech, Kleemann, etc. should have chip programs available.

2010 E350 SP / Honda Crosstour / prior vehicles - C32 modded / C300 modded / Lincoln LS modded
I'm in
I think it looks more aggresive than the 08 M3. I really think I am going to get this car. The M3's 8300 rpm rev is impresive. I was looking at a used E55, but this has some power pretty much and looks much more fun to drive. Hopefully Power Chip Group and Evo Sport can come out with a stage 1 kit and get this thing to a 500hp bench mark.
Here is what the c55 gain was just from a chip.
In standard form, the C55 AMG 5.5 V8 produces 362 hp and 376 lb.-ft.
Powerchip increase it's power to between 380 hp it's torque to between 394 lb.-ft
The price of the Powerchip is USD $990.00.
Thats 18 hp with 91 octane. If this follows true to the c63 the car is easy to get to 475. So some where they can squeez out 25 more hp I would guess.

Another good looking vehicle from Mercedes, equipped with quality parts,I liked its elegant looking Mercedes Benz headlight and spoiler. It has been said that it has exceptional brake system which turns out to boost its high performance. They’ve been using amazing concepts which makes their recent models one of a kind and superior from the rest.

Specifications:
457 HP
6,2-liter V8
100 km/u in 4.5 sec.
600 Nm @ 6.000 rpm
250 km/h topspeed
"Mercedes has taken the wraps of the ultimate version of its all-new C-Class sedan - the C63 AMG with 457 hp and 443 pound-feet of torque.
Under the hood is the same 6.3-litre V-8 that's in AMG versions of the M-Class and CL. In the C-Class it gives a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
Mated to the engine is AMG's Speedshift Plus 7G-TRONIC transmission. Steering wheel shift paddles and three driving modes - Sport, Comfort and Manual - are standard. The newcomer will be the first AMG car to feature an automatic throttle-blipping function during downshifts. Mercedes say this enhances the driver's emotional experience, but also gives almost completely jolt-free downshifting.
It's also the first AMG to feature a three-stage stability control system, which allows the driver to pre-set the vehicle's dynamic thresholds. Put simply, this means he can predetermine at which point during an extreme maneuver he or she wants the stability control to activate.
A sports suspension and 18-inch AMG alloys (or optional 19-inch rims) will offer an outstanding driving experience, according to the German firm."
