1000 mile service

Anyone does this yet? I'm taking my car this Monday for the service. I only have 800 miles but I'll probably put another 100 miles on it before the service. I've check the oil and it is clear as if it came from the bottle. I haven't had any need to add any oil so that is a good thing. The oil hit the top of the dipstick so it's still full. The one thing that I've had to change a couple of times was the air pressure in the tires, but that might have been related to the change in temperature we have been having in this area lately.

My question is they will change the oil and so forth and I'm considering having the dealer change the transmission fluid too. I guess it doesn't hurt to get all the metal shards out of the fluid. I did this when I had my IS300 but that car had an LSD and it made the tranny shift much better after the fluid was changed out. I'm not sure if it will make a difference here. Sometimes the C63 tranny isn't smooth in shifting gears.

Thoughts???

I wish someone would give us all details of all the things we need to do

Being on this forum I learned you should change oil at like 500 miles, than again at 100

I've also heard that with the LSD you should change that fluid after 500-1000

You're talking about changing the tranny fluid at 1000

I would want someone super knowledgable to explain every step to us new owners so that we know whats up

As easy as it is to change, I will do it my self at 1000 miles then again at 3000 miles and every 3-4K after that on out.

I'm planning on getting my first oil change between 1200-1500 miles. I think the engine oil should be changed after the break-in period. This is in line with other high performance cars I've owned....

I would imagine the oil needs to be changed during first service???
I just returned from dropping off my C63 for the window tinting to be completed and a nice wash, plus a detail. The gave me a brand new C300 Sport as a loaner - Not A Bad Car (The seats are a bit more comfy but not sporty)

Since my car has about 965 miles on it the MB dealer decided to keep it in for the first service aswell. I asked him if it was ok for the first service to take place now and what would be the procedures. He stated that for the first service all they do is check the car and make sure it isn't having any problems. I asked about the oil change and surprisingly he said no oil change on the first service.

I am not sure exactly what the book of the C63 stated but my S550 and Range Rover both got their oil changed. Since I don't know much yet about this vehicle could someone with more knowledge on this help me out?

Thanks!

The 1000 mile service is just a diagnostic check. Just making sure everything is running smoothly. This is all free of charge. Your next service should be at 5000-7500 miles, which is a tire rotation and also free of charge. First true service (Service A) is at 13,000 miles or when your maintenance minder indicates and that includes your first oil change. Enjoy

Were does it say that the 1k and 5-7.5k service is free of charge. Is this stated in the owners manual or something your sales man / service writer told you. The reason I asked is you seldom if ever get anything for "free" from a dealer.

I just took my C63 in for the "Complimentary First Service at 1000-3000 miles" -- that is what it's called in the owner's manual.

All they do with that is, as stated above, check over the car.

I also requested an oil change. My SA said the car won't need one until the oil service system tells you, or at 10,000 miles. So the factory is recommending an oil change every 10K miles. But I've always changed the oil after breakin, and with a hi-perf engine running synthetic, I think every 5000 miles (or less if you're really into it) is right. So I'm gonna go every 5000.

BTW my oil change cost $102, pretty good deal for "9 qts" of synthetic... guess I'd better check the receipt to make sure it was the right stuff!

Don't think you're going to rotate tires on any AMG car. Not unless you dismount them and swap side to side. Only free service is the courtesy check, 1000-3000 miles. Next service is 10,000 or 1 year.

When wheels/tires are staggered, they rotate side to side.

You can do that but I know of no one that would go to that expense. It is definitely not free.

How are you able to rotate C63 rims side to side? The tires are unidirectional.

So should I demand an oil change at about 5k miles or not? What does "LSD" stand for?

I got a call today telling me that everything was fine with the car except for that fact the the lower cap oil or something was leaking???? How is that possible when I take such great care and don't even drive it that often?

Sorry, I just know how to buy cars not really know much about how they work. I believe its a thing sitting on 4 wheels??? I might be wrong lol
