MBUSA re: PP -- "there was a production problem"

I spoke to my dealer today and my car is shown in the system with just the ls diff and the speed delimiter. I was supposed to pick it up through the European delivery program on October 1st. They are checking to see if they can build me another car with all the goodies for pickup by mid-October.

OK, so I am the one that got ahold of the letter to dealers first. I went right back at my salesman's boss and told her to tell the market regional manager that I am still willing to pay MSRP for the vehicle and options EXCEPT the performance package. I told her that $1,250 for the speed limiter increase (more than the LSD) was RIDICULOUS. She agreed. I told her that I think they should waive the whole performance package cost and I would follow through with the purchase when it delivers in the next 2 weeks. She told me that she thinks she can do that.
If so, I'm actually happy. It will mean that I get the LSD for free, which is really the only thing I wanted.

When I went to the dealer this morning to cancel my pp, the GM told me there is no issue with the PP in Canada, as far as they know. I hope he is right, if not I am going to be really pissed.

Why do u think there is are good deals on Bimmers and free service included because they all suck as hell and that is the only reason they do sell most of their cars.!
The BMW dealer here has more than 25 M3's in stock and the MB has 0 C63 in stock and a waiting list for a 3 to 6 month wait.
So in other words you depreciation will be more on a BMW! So it isnt exactly a better buy!

you shouldve got a few grand off sticker BEFORE this whole mess, and an ADDITIONAL 3990 off

Maybe so, although I have heard of only a few people who have said they were going to pay less than MSRP, but no one that actually has already bought an 09 less than MSRP...
And even if you are right, when I ordered the 09 in March they wouldn't negotiate - saying that if anyone was going to order an 09 it would be for MSRP and no more (Cali dealers were adding up to 10k markup).
So even though this PP omission has come up, I don't think it gives me a case to go back on our signed agreement and re-negotiate the whole deal. I'm just going to negotiate to get the LSD for free...

Anyone have ideas since all the performance package parts are separately added to the car is I am able to the LSD for my 2008? If I can purchase from the dealership and they could somehow get an LSD from the factory, I'd purchase it. I don't care about the speed limiter considering when will someone actually even go 155 in the 2008 version.

Yes. I am basically paying $1200 for the LSD and Top Speed delimiter. The new configuration actually does not show the 030 PP anymore. It shows the LSD and Delimitation of top speed to 174 mph as separate items. My dealer is only charging me for the LSD.

Official MBUSA Statement
Official MBUSA
Dear AMG owners,
Due to a coding error, some initial production 2009 C63 AMG vehicles with the new AMG Performance Package (030) were produced with limited slip differential and increased 174 mph top speed only, but are missing several package elements.
Three features were not included: front compound brakes, performance package suspension and alcantara inset steering wheel.
The 2009 C63 AMG Performance Package ($3,990) has been corrected in production and now includes all five features as planned:
Limited slip differential
174 mph revised top speed (155 mph standard)
AMG compound front brakes
AMG Performance Package suspension system
Leather / Alcantara AMG steering wheel
For cars that have already been produced, Mercedes-Benz USA will list and price the two included features as stand-alone options (limited slip differential, Code 471, $1,200 and the increased 174 mph top speed, Code 251 at $1,250.
For cars that were already delivered to owners, MBUSA will credit the delivering dealer $1,540 for the missing features.
We regret the missing features.
Sincerely,
Robert F. Allan

I love how the increased speed is $1,250 yet the brakes, suspension and steering wheel are only worth $1,540 all together.

Just got off the phone with my dealer. He stated that the missing parts would be installed at no cost to me as soon as they're available from MB. I've asked for that to be put into writing as I don't want to deal with potential BS down the line.
#143
Hahaha, my thoughts exactly. Someone should write MBUSA and ask them to buy the brakes, suspension, and steering wheel for $1,540. I wonder what they would say.

Thanks for the tip. I called back just now with your info and they promised to take care of it one way or another.
#147
Ask them what they mean by that. Get it in writing that they will pay 100% of the cost to install the AMG brakes, suspension, and steering wheel that comes with the PP. You're looking at probably close to $6,000 when parts and labor is factored in.

- Actually, the reason there are probably so many M3's is because they've always outsold the C-AMG's. Consider the C32 & C55 compared to M3 in total sales, it's unbelievably in favor of the BMW.
- Secondly, while the C55 had a higher MSRP (about $3K more), at the moment if you go to KBB.com and give a 2005 base model w/ 36K miles, the M3 has a resale value of $40K while the C55 is around $31K
Anyway, I hope that doesn't happen to your car, but BMW's generally have much better resale values than Mercedes-Benz. Ask those S65 and CL65 owners (2006 models). They are dying right now!!
Just thought I'd clear that little misconception.

LE: I would guess that your car is being built with the limited one. My dealer told me that it has been corrected (as the memo states) for September production cars...
