I went for the Performance Upgrade for the LSD and the potential of an increased resale value. Go for it if you can afford it. If not, pass on it. Either way, the car is going to be faster than you can go either with or without the limiter removed.

Ask yourself, what is the fastest you have ever driven a car? Then ask yourself, do you ever plan to drive 174 MPH. If not, you don't need it.

If you're driving on the streets, the limiter doesn't matter. If you're driving on the track, you're picking the wrong car.

This thread seems about as necessary as the "please tell my why I shouldn't get the color black" thread.

Just sit for 5 seconds and think about it, there isn't really a reason to post something like this up

The C63 seems like such a waste with the 155 limiter, buy a C350 or C300, and save 25k, they can all meet you at 155.

That's such a ridiculous statement. Who spends time driving at 155? Answer: no one.

Besides, nearly every car manufactured has a limiter below its speed capability.

So, because you do not actually use the car to its potential, you assume nobody else will, and therefore the comment is stupid. I see the logic, very clear.

Obviously, you do not understand how to formulate a legitimate argument.

It will not be anywhere close to 10 min.

The price premium seems to be very high in both absolute and relative terms to not have any speed (I know there is acceleration, of course) advantage.

No, I generally assume most motorists are not stupid enough to spend very much time at a speed that is nearly triple the average US speed limit, not to mention deadly should a mistake occur. Your response convinces me there are people stupid enough, but hopefully in the minority.

You're right. Your inability to grasp the obvious has overwhelmed me.

Get it just because you can!!!

That's the American way.

Who cares if is not legal, is not legal to go above 70 in the streets, you don't see cars limited to that speed.

speed limiter

It all depends if you like exploring the limit of a vehicle and if you enjoy high speed. You do not have to do it illegally or tracking the car.
There are many outings that allow you to legally reach those speeds.
Most of the buyers are not interested and therefore it is not worthy of the $$.
For others like me, I would not buy the car without the limiter taken out or a third party software that would delete it.
It is a matter of personal preference but more importantly, if you have not taken driving courses or lessons to handle the high speed, then please do not try it on your own on public roads racing someone else...

There is a difference between 20% over the limit and 200% over the limit. If you don't believe me, find a 35 mph corner and take it at 42 mph. Now, try it again at 105 mph. That is the difference between exceeding and excessive.

I'm curious (and this is an honest question) - how many tracks have a straightaway where you can reach 155 mph in this car? I know you can't at Road Atlanta, Barber, or any of the locations in the Southeast US I'm familiar with. Hell, F1 cars don't average 155 on their bigger tracks and they have almost twice the power and 1/3 the weight.

Thank you for making my point. If it is really important to you, get the PP or aftermarket delete. Just because 155 is the default, doesn't make the C63 somehow "a waste". 99% of buyers will see 155 less than 1% of the time. You do the math.

Oh, so uncle sam is the all-knowing velocity god, I see your logic. The countless examples of speed limits in the US being set in order to generate revenue must be my imagination.

And the entire country of Germany must be very stupid to drive so quickly, that must be why you are many times more likely to be killed on the US roadways with their protective speed limits.

Uneducated drivers, as you appear to be, should have limiters set at 90mph, lol. Or perhaps you would prefer to choose another arbitrary number?

gravedgr: You are correct there are few tracks that will allow the average driver to reach past the 155mph. I was making a general comment that you can legally drive above 100mph+ in many settings.
However for a good driver and with a moderately tuned car, ALMS tracks will allow you to go beyond 155mph. Top speeds for regular cars can reach 170mph but you need skills.
I do not recall the name but out west, once a year, they organize a race where the roads are closed and cars are arranged by average speed they think they can do. Many cars will go top speed and average above 120mph for the spped junkie in you.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.

The name of the company escapes me, but they do this in Nevada quite often.
