63 tuners and mods

That's the problem - I never sell, I trade into the next fun machine. I don't think the next dealer would give me much extra in trade in.

I believe the reason most do not is due to longevity issues with transmissions. There have been plenty of reports of tuners messing with TCUs on the V12 platform that have blown up in their face.
I do understand you spend lots of hours programming a TCU, but you will have canned TCU tunes soon for people with specific mods...especially once you figure out your margin of saftety. So, soon your TCU tune will take a matter of minutes just as the ECU tune does.

Ford 4x4, daily
thanks gravedgr for creating the conversation that i originally wanted when i started this thread. i have not been around for the last few days and have missed the latest flurry of comments. i do want to thank evosport for finally answering the questions i had placed in their thread.
when i started looking at the merc for purchase last year or so anticipating the c63 platform i look at various renntech and evosport threads and tunes. more recently i wanted to be sure to at least get a little info on all the main national tuners working with the merc 63 drivetrain. mhp has really made me think twice as to what sports sedan(i am also looking at the new m3, cts v, g8 gxp: ls3 w/ 6sp man) and tune/mods i want to purchase. mhp with their tunes, availability to answer questions, and track results have really opened my eyes. this post says it all.
with that i cant wait for mir and the head to head tuner shoot out!!!!

Paul sorry but you want to slate Andy as though he's not a "big tuner" your words. But how many of the so called big tuners have given us any data so far????
Test engineer or whatever?????
You want data from a track?? From what i have seen none of the tuners BRABUS included have even produced a Dyno map run from stock let alone tuned???
IMHO Andy is the only tuner that has HONESTLY shown forum users his real data?
Please correct me if i am wrong?
The data we have seen from other tuners is not convincing as they have just given us just Dyno runs which imho dont mean anything without a timed run???
What i personally would like to see is runs on the strip as for me its the only thing that means anything????
If anyone out there can tell me that by looking at a graph they can tell the car is quicker then i stand corrected? As imho its just a graph and as such is at the scrutiny of all concerned???
I am no master in analysing DYNO runs but a run on the strip does not lie.
As many owners have said what i would really like to see is a stock C63 V a Modded C63
Me personally, I am not willing to pay $000's of dollars or pounds for a dyno sheet to boast about down at the pub/bar. i want to know that what i am paying for will give me real gains.
I want to know that a tune will be giving me considerably more power than stock.
Feel free to flame me, and hit down on me but if any genuine C63 owner feels any diiferent i would love to know why?
IMO we all want the 70BHP that has been taken away from us????
As mentioned tracks involve driver input we want timed runs.........

This has been verified by other tuners in other threads we've posted in on mbworld.org.

Again 100% incorrect. As I've explained countless times in the past, there are no redundant codes in the TCU, EVERY tune that we do is 100% custom per vehicle--not by choice, but because there's no other way. To date we've seen 6 C63 ECU/TCUs (same make, same processer used in both '08/'09) and not ONE has had any redundancy whatsoever. We're even seeing different splits in TM from the ECU/TCU based on the car in question.
This has been verified by other tuners in other threads we've posted in on mbworld.org.

I understand you cannot copy and paste (yet), but surely once you get the parameters setup based on mods and save them or even write them down or do screen prints, it becomes much easier and less time consuming the next go around for the same vehicle with the same mod level.

No, it won't. The parameters (basic tune guidelines will be set that is correct) but how we have to enter them into the code, and where we have to change the code will always be different. There are over 300 possible combinations so the likelihood of redundancy is slim to none.
Being in the computer business, this seems like a pain in the **** and surely should have an easier way.

VRP also has 14 day money back guarantee as they use Powerchips like Evosport does.
And I vote this be made a sticky.
Edit: Powerchips does re-flashes for $100.00 also in case you do further mods or a dealer flashes over the ECU tune. Dunno about the other companies.

Just noticed that the Renntech test car (for their v1 tuning) had a cat delete done to it. Another member on here just tested a cat removal on a C63 to be worth 24-26rwhp alone.

Reported Best Results (so far) with just tuning.
Highest RWHP: MHP 435
Highest RWTQ: MHP - 401
Best RHWP Gain: MHP- 63
Best RWTQ Gain: MHP - 29
Best RWHP Gain/$: Kleeman - $29.90/hp (46 rwhp gain)
(Note: all tuner results are rounded down and do not include corrections for gear, fuel, or minor mods). Also keep in mind that a 63 will dyno 6-8rwhp higher in 4th gear (what most test in) than 5th, and 10rwtq lower in 4th than in 5th. 5th is 1:1, aka industry standard.

Two quick questions:
1. Exactly how is the install handled once you have selected the product?
2. Other than the Mercedes detuned ECU are there any other performance differences between the C63 and all the 500+hp models with the same motor?

I believe exhaust. There was some talk about the intake being different and another member said they were the same.

At my favorite local steakhouse (Hyde Park) I can have a 16-18 oz bone in fillet for ~$50 or a 6 oz Kobe strip for $120. Since I love red meat and eat a LOT I usually get both.
