How fast have you gone?

I just drove from Phoenix to Portland and was leary of going too fast (don't want to get a reckless driving ticket, hit a deer, blow a tire, etc.)... Maybe I'm a big chicken.

With that being said, I found a 5 mile long, flat and straight, open road near Alturas, CA on the trip and opened it up a bit. I shut her down with miles of road still ahead of me, but I got a little nervous. When I checked the NAV, it told me I only had hit 122mph. It was so easy, I'm sure i could have hit 160 on that straightaway, but I didn't have the nerve.

I really would like to go to the track...

130 passing a few cars on the way to Vegas. Getting by slower traffic is the only time I really get on it. What was funny is my wife didn't even realize we were going over 100 - the speed is so effortless...............

Have a great time in Portland.

Picked my car up yesterday and guy told me to keep it under 90mph for first 1000 miles. I drove it 60 miles last night, hit 90mph just once...will be hard! Fyi, first "thumbs up" was 15 minutes in from Cayenne Turbo...hahaha. I plan on eventually finding a race track and getting as close to 178mph as I can!

I hit 170 yesterday on the way back to our exhaust fabrication shop. A Pointiac G8 wanted to run (I think?) so I gave him a taste from 70-170. I think he stopped trying at 75.

BTW, speedo was still climbing rapidly at 170.

And that probably occured within 2 seconds and you were already almost two cars ahead of him.

I have run mine up to 155mph on I-20 east this past Saturday. Man, ROCK SOLID! Great handling car. No floating or drifting. Feels like you set the car at 45mph or something. I was already driving at 90mph or so, dropping down to fifth and running it up to 155 was nothing.

Not easy to find a long enough open stretch or road to top it out by your self. I do not pass people at this kind of speed.

At some point I will run it up to the the 178mph speed limit. Having said that I am sure Andy at MHP could get me up towards that 200mph / 321.86 KPH mark.

140ish from one on ramp to the highway. WOT run from 40mph is awesome. Love the 2-3 shift at WOT.

Andy, any MHP v2 tunes in S. Florida so I can actually feel the difference. The GM at my dealership shold give me the grenn light to tune without a warrenty issue (in writing). Might even be able to get him to sell the AMG tune from the dealership. He was only considering it due to the TCU addition.

I ordered option "251" Delimitation of top speed to 174mph . Lets just say thats where it is.
Andy - it was a BLAST!! No limiter now but haven't had a chance to find out yet. Blasts from 75 to 130 are easy because you are still in fourth gear. Steady as a rock!! Have fun guys and be careful.

Merry Christmas!
God Bless,
Keith

Everyone should do the same (Not passing anyone at high speeds, it would be extremely reckless!!!) yesterday I could have easily blown past 125 but I hate when I see gaps on the side of the Highways (trooper hide aways) and as a true sports car, when you come off the pedal the MPH come right down quickly, which feels great : > ))))

Physics dictates that slowdown... not the car characteristics heh heh

Terminal velocity for skydivers is ~180 mph

Let me clarify my earlier comments before everyone thinks I "recklessly pass cars" The road to Vegas has HUGE streches of road where you can see for miles. If there are a couple of cars driving slowly in front of you, pull to the left, hammer it, get by the cars, then slow down and pull back into your lane. Amazingly quick and easy in this car.

I got up to 88 mph and I wound up two days ahead. I then went in reverse at 88 mph and wound up back where I started. On a side note, OverBudget do NOT take the interstate tomorrow at ten am.

scarbtj in Orlando?

If you want give the GM my number (614 940 9523) or email: andrew@modernhorsepower.com I'll be more than happy to set him up with a seriously discounted "tester" tune for a vehicle of his choosing--we can do yours if you talk him into it. It would still carry the same $ back guarantee all our tuning.

Thanks
Andy

it takes forever for my honda odyssey to slow down after i release gas pedal.

i agree that 120 mph is effortlessly for our cars. i enjoy taking off from service road->ramp->highway, then oh ****, im at 120mph. then i release the gas pedal, and it drops to 80mph quickly without a brake. im luvin it!

I was speaking in general, I was Not directing my comment toward you or anyone responding for that matter. I'm just warning some of the newbie sport car drivers on here. As we all know you can whip past anything and or everything in your path, which becomes highly dangerous.

Lets all enjoy the Holidays in good health and most of all drive safely

Why are you the one doing the chasing? You should be about a light year ahead of your buddy.

I try very hard to drive at a moderate (legal) speed. I really don't want to go that fast. But then that little voice inside my head starts to say, "release the evil", and all hell breaks loose.

Hit the limiter on the 101 at night.

The passenger's face after the ride - PRICELESS!
