brake dust
#2
Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) will put more brake bias towards your rear if you are gently braking to ensure the car doesn't nose dive. This is why you're getting more brake dust on the rear instead of the front. If you brake harder, the front brakes will do more work and brake dust will accumulate more so on the front wheels. Theres really nothing you can change about the dust problem unless you change the brake pads to a harder compound.
P.S. Brake dust just gives you another reason to wash the car!

don't forget to put some protectant on your rims so that the brake dust doesn't cake on your rims. i have found putting some wax on the rims makes the brake dust come off easier when i wash it.

I have been using a spceial wax for these wheels and many other aftermarket wheels, its called Wheel wax. The product is awesome and I can notice a big differnce after I use it on the wheels, the brake dust doesnt adhere itself to the wheels as much and it does blow off, I apply it two to three times a season and it enough.. Try....

I use Menzerna FMJ and/or Zaino on the rims and it works well.
I heard that these sealants won't break down (melt) like a true wax would.
I've never used the other products mentioned--I've been using this method for years, plus I already have it in my detailing cabinet, so it's one less bottle of product! Just my .02

I use a cleaner called "Hotwheels" from Mcguires, apparently it is the same product you buy from the Mercedes dealer as their wheel cleaner, it is made by McGuires, thats what my Parts manager at the dalership told me.

P21S Wheel Cleaner (original, or Gel) is pH balanced and won't damage your wheels... pricey though IMHO, for how fast one goes through it. Occasionally forum sponsors Detailer's Domain (Phil, DD) or Detailed Image (Greg, DI) will have it on special.

The rear pads are swapped out for new ones which use a different compound. Several of us here in Vancouver have had this done already, under warranty.
