Would it be a bad idea to drive a new car to Vegas?

Would it be a bad idea to drive a new car to Vegas?
My car is about 2 weeks old and has about 400 miles. I was wondering if it would be bad for the car if I took it for a trip to vegas at this stage. I may have a few more miles by the time of the trip, maybe about 600 miles. I'm asking because I'm wondering if the hot temperature might be bad for a new car (not broken in).
Also, I have a question about oil change. My car was produced in 10/08 and so presumably arrived at the dealership around new years. It sat in the lot (14 miles when I drove it) for 6 months or so. Should I be getting a oil change asap or does oil change only need to be done after acquring mileage and not every 3-4 months like the service dept at stealerships say. When should the first oil change for a C63 be done?

I think as long as you don't tax/overrev the engine considerably you should be fine. I dont think the heat will have any effect - otherwise, how would people who buy their MBs brand new in Vegas cope? Once you hit 1,000 miles, the engine should be completely broken in - not sure how far you're driving, but maybe the drive home could be a little more "exciting".

I'm headed to Sin City July 23rd for the weekend. Plan on playing in some poker tournaments and hitting a few clubs w/ some friends of mine - but I'm not driving (too far!). Holler if you are headed same weekend and like poker - we'll be playing most of the weekend during the day at Bellagio.

They scratched my bumper once....not in vegas though....big *** scratch
Edit: Forgot to say, you might get multiple views on it, so it depends. If it was me, I would not drive my car to Vegas before the break in period is over. The reason is because you need to have the RPMs constantly varying. So when driving on highway your RPM is usually constantly the same. Also you'll usually only be using 5th, 6th, and 7th gear more and won't see much use of the first 4 gears. And I believe that the manual says something about using all the gears, and varying the rpms, but I THINK it was don't pass 4,000 rpm or something like that. And remember to not stay in Comfort mode as it won't use the 1st gear.

After I picked up my 1st C63 in North Carolina I went on a 5900 mile road trip and even managed to break it in properly.
Its a car, DRIVE IT
In regards to valet, take it from someone who worked security at a major Hotel / Casino on the strip. You are only asking for trouble when you valet your car, whether its in Vegas or anywhere else

Go for it. After I got mine with only 200 miles, I took mine to LV. It was hoter than it is now or about the same. Just as said prior, just flucuate the RPM's and when you stop over in Barstow to fill the car and trust me you will need it, that will give you the chance to run the gears. I put mine on Cruise control most of the way and the rest of the way I was enjoying the car and the sound. I say go for it and enjoy.

JESUS...! They can catch you counting cards in your head with highly sophisticated cameras and security teams, but they can't catch you flying down Las Vegas Blvd in a stolen M3?
Vegas PD = FAIL. I don't give a damn if they (quickly) found the car, any idiot can find a parked car with a locator on it.

Go and drive the car just dont do this ^^ the RPM needs to be changing while breaking in so never go on cruise control. Go on Manual Mode and use 5-6-7 so u can vary your RPM. It might not be the cheapest on gas but it will get the work done.

Heat won't hurt it, but as Arctichaze says don't use cruise control. You want to break it in with a variety of rpms. Best break-in is varying speeds around town and some freeway mixed in. Long trip on the highway is not the way to break-in the motor, or tranny or anything else.

Akademiks: A little known fact is that most of the hotels do not have security cameras in the parking lots.

Very good example. Those damn Casinos spend tens of millions dollars on security to keep people from stealing from them and yet they can't even put cameras in the parking lot...

The hot weather will not effect your car. The Vegas & Cali weather is perfect for the machine.
In regards to oil change of your Mobile 1, MB has explained to me that the oil is fine for one year or up to ur first A service, which ever comes first. However, people like to change the oil at 1,000 to 3,000 miles. I would personally only advise to do so if you drive aggressively.

Your car will be perfectly fine. This is a well built motor. As long as your don't race the **** out of your car, a long drive is good and healthy for your motor. Be sure to do an oil change at around 1,500 miles just to check if everything inside is fine. Ask them to check if there is any metal shavings inside the oil. Enjoy your car.

I agree do not use cruse control. I did it on mine as I stated before, but once I left Barstow area I picked up a CHP and he tailed me for about 100 miles and he wold not pass me at all. I had no choice but to put it on cruise and just leave it there. Finaly just before the lest exit at the state line he pulled me over and wrote me a $130 fix it ticket for my 15% tints. And to think he did that with a smile on his face. But overall I was jsut stating I did put mine in cruise control only because I had to, not becuase I wanted to, and now I have 36,000 miles on it I have had ZERO problems in my car, only a little oil here and there and a farm of rubber trees.

You already have 400 miles on it. By the time you do go, you will probably have more than 500 miles on the motor. Plus going up and down the mountains will put different loads on the motor.
