So what does everyone think of the new Camaro? Seems like everyone and their granma is driving one of these around my neck of the woods. On paper, the numbers seem pretty good (mid-to high 4s 0-60 and high 12s on the 1/4) but I wonder if its another case of GM inflating performance specs like they did with the CTS-V.
I was pumping gas and one of these pulled up to the neighboring pump. We started chatting and the dude went on for like 30seconds non-stop rattling off perfromance numbers and what not. The he finished by saying and I qoute "I was looking at one of those (pointing at my car) but decided to wait to get this one for about the same money." Obviously he didn't realize or knew what a C63 was so i told him "really, a C63 for around $40k? You must have been looking at a C350" He gave me a WTF you talking about look so I had to explain how a C350 is like the V6 Camaro equivalent to his SS Camaro. He asked how much power it had, etc etc. He seemed puzzled but gave me a thumbs up as he left. Guess I'll have to make him a believer next time I see him....

They're pretty awesome. I saw a black one with red stripes a few days ago, looked great. I think they're too small inside and I hate the interior. I'll take a Challenger

+1 on this one. the cts-v doesnt have inflated numbers at all. that car hauls a$$. period. there is a reason it pulls on the M5 stock.

They're actually big inside. If my "little" brother, who is 6'5"330lbs can fit very comfortably in it, its big enough for just about anyone.

The back seats are much smaller than the Challenger. The knee room is smaller as well. My son who is 6' 4" can fit in a Challenger but his kness are against the interior on the Camaro.

I test drove a Red one (V6 Demo) today. After reading some reviews of the new Camaro I had to see if this was really any different than a regular GM Camaro. So I drove over to Chevy on Van Nuys Blvd. and got a lil test drive to see what all the hype was really about.

The Positives: Good Looking, A Head Turner For Sure, Good Suspencion, Good Handling, & a decent amount of power for a V6. It's a decent advancedment compared to prior Camaros.

The Negatives: No leg room for the rear passengers. Keep in mind I am 5' 10" and nobody can fit behind me if I were to be driving or sitting in the front passenger seat. Small windows all around. Very small trunk, considering the size of the car. You can't see much behind you through that small rear windscreen. The bulk in the design of the rear doesn't help when changing lanes or when reversing.

Much of the negatives you can get used to after driving for some time but the demo already had some issues. The passenger side window wouldn't work at all and the computer message screen wouldn't stop from asking to close the passenger side door which was fully closed.

Anyway in my opinion its not something worth waiting for 6 to 7 months. If you have some extra cash for something cool for about a year, then pick one up but be sure to go for the Limited Edition since they are making you wait, or just buy one from what is avail online if you can't wait any longer.

At the end it all depends on your personal choice. However, I would suggest test driving one first, before pulling the trigger.

I'd rather have a Challenger SRT8 or a Mustang GT500 Shelby. I don't like the Chevy.

Hmmm. I expected more bashing of the Camaro from this group. It must be good then.

Beautiful on the outside but the interior sucks big time. What's up with the Wall-E instrument panel? Why can GM just do a nice simple straight-forward design?

If it doesn't say AMG, it's not worth it!

I'm sorry, but the interior in the Camaro is much nicer than the rental car interior of the Challenger.

I would take the generic interior over the nasty Camaro interior any day. You can't even replace the POS head unit.

The good is the exterior is outstanding. The bad is the interior, I to went to the dealer and was told this is the only GM car that there is a back order on. Wasn't to impressed with the black plastic. Made you feel claustophobic. It drove well and I didn't have any issues with windows or error messages on their demo vehicle. I for one since we are all ultimately paying for GM hope this along with the New Buick and new Chevy Colbalt replacement hit the mark. We need to get our freaking investment back!

Text from an email I got earlier today:

Dear Camaro5 member,

Many of you are understandably concerned regarding whether your Camaro is potentially afflicted with the same issue that has caused a small group of 6-speed Camaro SS's to experience transmission output shaft breakage. Rest assured, GM has now represented that they will contact by phone *every* owner that has a Camaro SS with 6-speed manual transmission IF it has or is suspected of having faulty parts which may lead to such issue. This will begin as soon as the GM's internal investigation into the issue is completed, hopefully within the next two weeks.

This means that if you do not hear from someone at GM regarding your car, then your transmission is fine.

Please follow this THREAD or our HOMEPAGE for further updates on this issue.

As always, caveat emptor...

IMHO, their body style appears as if it was on 'roids, much like the Mustang remake. I'm sure lots of people will buy 'em though in an attempt at reliving glory days. The rear vis looks like it would be terrible. Why can't Detroit make a new gen muscle car that is sleek, subtle and has major technological advances? I guess the CTS-V would qualify, but that front end design is horrendous, polarizing at best.
