Which ECU Upgrade should I do???

Hello, I have a 2009 C63 with out the PP with all other options possible. I am trying to decide which ECU upgrade to do? As well as new Intake. Do I go with Renntech, Kleeman, MHP, EvoSport, Brabus??? I read many posts of differences in HP and Torque and some "weird stuff" about MHP? I want a reliable and trust worthy TUNER, but also want the best??? Yes I am confused. MHP got me interested because from what I have read is that they are the only ones who do the TCU as well as the ECU and I would really like some quicker and firmer shift, etc as well, but am worried about what has been posted on here as well as MHP was banned from this website for awhile. I dont want to get caught up in any harassing emails as to why MHP was banned, just want honest helpful information to help me with my decision. My Mercedes Dealer works with Renntech and Kleeman and recommends either of those? Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

After visiting Evosport, am installing their equipment on my C63. Have decided to go with the pulley, ECU chip and tune, and a couple of inlet filters to get the ball rolling.

We also took a drive in the modded C63 seen in the following video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7AedCGrnjk

http://www.evosport.com/product/vehi...63AMG_W204.pdf

Good luck with your decision.

Hey newbie...keep reading prior posts I think everything that you need to make a decision is contained in this forum.

But assuming you did read everything and are still confused (which is very possible), than I suggest either Renntech or Kleemann if your dealer recommends them and will honor the warranty. Both are awesome tunes. Renntech is probably a little more aggressive in their tune, and they are a lot more $. I chose Kleemann for the price/performance ratio. Comfort Power is their slogan. Why not email Cory at Kleemann and get his thoughts on the matter, as well as pricing. May be worth an email to Renntech as well.

Hello TaylorColeman, Thank you on that, much appreciated. I see you have the K2 package on your C63? How is that to drive? This is my everyday car and don't want anything to over the top, as you said "Comfort Power". If you dont mind me asking how much was the K2 pack? and the installation and who did you have do it? My dealer "Phil Smart MB" in Seattle say they can install everything but just curious as to how you did it? Nice set of cars you have

I would stick with what your dealer doesn't mind for warranty issues.

imho, it's Renntech or Kleemann. You'll have the best support and from two of the trusted (and long term) names in tuning.

Brabus/Lorinser/Carlsson are a bit distant in support (USA), imho. And MHP, etc., is iffy in support and probably the long term.

And as Sincity says, your dealer will stand behind you with Renntech or Kleemann.

fwiw, I'll be doing a K2 from Kleemann eventually.

Just out of curiosity, are any of you seeing better MPG after tuning your car?

PM sent.

Also, the K2 version is just as much DD as stock. I put the car in "C" mode when I want to chill (which is rare). But in "C", it drives and sounds much like stock if you drive it like a normal person.

Put in "M" or "S" and it's crazy fast.

I'm also told the adaptive learning from the ECU is setting-specific. Meaning, just puttering around in "C" won't affect my adaptive learning on "S". Seems to be that way.

Mind I asked what color is your car and where do you bought it??

and I got the same problem as yours...if I remember correctly, there is another member name "nrgy" (If I am not wrong), he's planning to do the MHP, and I believe he already ordered it.

Hopefully he's going to chime-in

Hello B.E.R.U.A.N.G,
I got mine from Phil Smart Mercedes in Seattle and its Steel Grey in Color. Its a blast to drive but I am going to do a ECU, Intake and LSD upgrades but just need to figure out who is the best ,most trustworthy and reliable.

Who are you thinking of using for your ECU Upgrade? Where did you get yours from?

Good luck and good driving.

Power is nice to have
Especially when the engine is so capable of producing extra 50 -100 hp.

I will chime in and tell you that I have all the MHP products and it runs great and safe. The latest tune pulled 470rwhp/425rwtq with a 12.5 - 1 A/F at the top end. If you want to take the C63 to its potential I'll be glad to talk to you. I have the new MHP long tubes(nothing better) along with their tightest tune. Also have the C/F intake. The car has immense potential!!

You will run with the fastest out there like a highly modded E55 or Lambo.

If you want shorty headers with cats then review the MKB package and I'll sell you mine. They are the best shorty available without a doubt.

Too be honest..I was thinking to do the MHP...but the even though they are making the most power out of the car, the peak of the power from their tuning was at the very end of the RPM, where as compare to our stock graph is more linear...not to mention alot of "issues" here...So, if I MUST get the ecu done right away, I'll stick with Kleemann or Rentech, since not as pricy as MHP, and I believe you can re-sale it right away...

But same as you, I believe more power is better

So all I did now is just waiting...

Mine also from Philsmart! my sales rep is Kim, she is very very nice! and she really know cars! Its hard to find a sales reps that understand the difference between HP and TQ

Mine is white, hope to see you in the future
And if you decided to get the tune and need a stock car to "compare" I'll be glad to help

im just curious, but there have been a few individuals who have reviewed the Kleeman tune thoroughly and given it great reviews...and i know there are those w/ the Evosport/PowerChip tune, but nobody has reviewed it as in depth.....
when im up for a tune i'd like to go w/ Evosport cuz they are here in SoCal, but even 220S says he's going to go for K2 (he also has SoCal listed)......
makes me lean toward Kleeman :-/

I am North County San Diego and just got the Kleeman ECU tune done Monday. Getting the ECU in and out takes less than 10 minutes and you can have it up and running in three days total (finding this time window is the hardest part IMHO).

I have only put about 80 miles since the tune but you can defiantly feel the difference - especially when you stomp on the pedal above 3k rpm and 40+MPH.

Doing the K2 package was too much hassel and risk for me but your milage may vary. I cant attest to the quality/reliability of the other tuners but I am very happy with the service and performance gain of the Kleeman tune (only been a few days so far though)

Just for the record, I'm planning on a K2 because I've got an E63 that's not as locked. K2 should give me some gain. K1 alone on the C is way more obvious.
