+100 but what can we do about it? We the people basically pay cops (literally) yet they always do w.e the **** they want without any punishment at all.

wow you people are so delusional its mindblowing. Yes, instead of radar for speeders, they have a radar for successful people. Obviously the type of car you drive is a good way to tell how successful you are. Never do I see crap wagons pulled over, only $50k cars and above. IN fact, if you have a Bentley or a Maybach, you may as well not leave the house as you will get pulled over by every cop you go by.

Not to mention, since it seems you can get a C63 for about $1k a month, someone with a gross income of $10k a month (which is not a problem for a cop) can easily afford it.

Finally, there are some that might argue that if you can't afford to pay cash, you can't afford it either.

oliverk, i agree with you everybody gets pulled over regardless of what they drive. but i know a lot of alabama cops and they only make 30-40k per year in fact a lot have to supplement their incomes by being bouncers or security guards so 120k for a cop sounds a little out there to me IMHO

Wow, i guess cops in NJ must make more than double than cops down here in South Florida then. Last time i heard the most a cop makes (down here), including overtime hours was about 4-5k. But assuming they DO make $10k, what is $10k a month for a cop (or anyone) that has a family to maintain, bills to pay, and a roof bill monthly. I must say 10k for someone that is SINGLE without a family is GREAT and can live life however they want with the amount. But for someone paying constant bills and family to feed $10k monthly is nothing ( maybe in NJ but not here in Miami)

Also you forgot to add maintenance costs for a C63. Including when it's time to replace brake pads, rotors, gas costs. It's not paying the 1k monthly (that's nothing like you say) it's the maintenance costs that come behind owning an AMG.

dont feel bad. i got 4 tickets in one shot. i ahd a lady going tp 55 then slamming on her brakes back down to 45 and doing it over and over in the left lane, and the guy in the middke had me boxed in doing 50ish. a bike then squeezes between us almost knocking my mirror off. i then go to zip around them from the right because that lane was empty, when i was going from the middle to the right i looked again just out of habit but a split second before everything was clear, i see something and swerve back to the middle lane. knowing my luck it was a ny state trooper flying in the right lane. he said i was doing 81 so he must have been doing well over 100 for me not to see him, plus no lights or sirens on. he pulls me over and says "i was going after the guy on the bike, he was going to get a whole bunch of tickets but you got in my way, now YOU'RE going to get them." i got 81 in a 55, reckless driving, unsafe lane change, no turn signal, i used my tun signal, not when i swerved out of his way though, i guess i should have stayed in the lane and let him nail me so i can sue. i was being super nice to him also. he said "license registration!" i said no insurance card? his response "im sure you have insurance on this" i then explained i had no registration because it was 2weeks old and it was a temp on the windshield to which he said "whos car is this??" and i answered its mine, its under my name, he smirked and yanked my license and came back with 4tickets which total to 16points, i have my 3rd court date on friday 9/11. i mean wtf?? i didnt deserve to get nailed like that, he was pissed and got even more pissed when he found out it was my car bwecause im 25yrs old, i work my *** off and i have a nice car. and now im hoping i dont get nailed by the judge because if i dont have a license i lose my job and i support my mom and sis with my income. effed up

You're reaching. not all cops have families or kids.

Yes, the cost of living is very high in this area, but $10k is enough to finance a C63, as long as you haven't gone crazy with houses/other items.

Maintenance costs? Brakes? come on. Aside from a ridiculous appetite for tires, brakes are what, every 30k? Maintenance every 10k miles?

Its not a ferrari, maintenance costs are very reasonable given that it comes with a warranty for unexpected items.

Why in the world would you not have a radar detector in the first place with an AMG?

Sounds like you were about to do a two lane slide, pass 2 cars on the right, and were speeding.

Despite the bike also deserving a ticket, it sounds like you got what you deserved.

Unless you constantly cruise well above the speedlimit, you really shouldn't need one. I haven't had one in about 5 years, and I've gotten less tickets in the past five years than in the years I did have one.

figured i didnt need one, im not the type to be doing 100+ constantly. those days are kinda over for me, i like keeping it on closed roads or tracks. should have had one, it would have gone off and at least alerted me.

this reminds me of what happened to me while i was in undergrad, and i think the OP is lookn for something like this:

i had been studyn w/ some friends in the library, and decided to move over to their apartment, which was on campus and < 5 minute drive...jump in the car and realized i didnt have my wallet on me but whatever, it wasnt going to be a long drive

what i didnt know was that somebody had stolen my registration tag off my license plate (Stockton, CA woohoo!) and i had a brake light out...so the campus police pulled me over for that...then like i said i didnt have my wallet on me...so no drivers license and i didnt have an updated insurance card either (also in my wallet)

so i went from a short drive across campus, to a potential of 4 tickets/citations....the cop pulled me out the car, gave me a pep talk, told me to take care of all of that before he saw me next time and i was on my way...

dunno about you guys, but i think OP was lookn for something like that....i "broke the law" as well, but just being told to care of it worked just as well as getting cited and i wasnt upset at the end of it

carry on

Let's see i have 13000 miles thus far and have allready gone thru my 5th set of rear tires and 2nd set of front tires. That's about $3000 in a year and a half in JUST tires and i dont even burnout or waste my tires unconsciously like some people do. To add more, i have about 20% front brake pad wear left and 25% on the back with just 13k miles. Dealer has quoted me around $2k for all 4 pads + sensors including labor. That's gonna be allredy $5k spent in a year and a half in just maintenance costs. You never pay that much on a regular benz, not even in 50k miles you'll probly pay that much on any other non-AMG Mercedes

Oliver, you know how i cruise. i've gotten 1 speeding ticket in the last 5 years (the only day i forgot to put up my radar detector) The cop was very generous in saying i was doing 85 in a 65 ( i was doing about 100) and the ticket was just $152. the radar detector has saved my butt many times.

P.S. i don't want to start a fight with you about speeding.

You seem to have serious issues with driving smoothly.

You are telling me that you can't get 2700 miles from a set of rear tires? Either you are driving like a maniac, your specific car has a problem, or its an absolutely horrid design flaw.

I honestly can't stand when people don't use their blinkers. They are there for a reason, we are not mind readers to know when we will be cutoff at 80mph on the highway. Take this as a hard lesson, definitely sucks but please, everyone use their damn blinkers!

The cop has discretion, but you have to break the law before they even get the chance to give you a ticket.

So lets see. If you get pulled over for no turn signal, and the cop see some heroin in the back seat, he should just ignore it because thats not why he got pulled over? seriously????

The law says you must have proof of insurance. He did not, and his reason was weak. Cop has every right to ticket him for this, and I'm glad he did. People without insurance suck, so anything can be done to enforce this is great.

Most cops abuse their power? excuse me, but how the **** do you know?

I'm not a cop, none of my family members or friends are cops, and I'm upset when I get pulled over too.

That said, every time you break the law, you take the chance of getting caught.
Oliver, your forgot one. He did not have a tag either.

Regardless, like I mentioned on the first page, he should had his paperwork together, and if not, don't drive the car. I don't do those types of things, due to you run the risk of getting yanked.

On the turn signal, come on. You should always use the turn signal so people KNOW what type of maneuver you are making. To the OP, no one is sticking up for the cop but we are trying to tell you what is the law. Knowing the laws can save your life, others, and keep your a$$ out of jail.

That does sound like a bit fast going thru tires. I'm on my first set at 5200 miles and expect them to see 6000. i never peal out but i am an aggressive driver. you should get more than 2700 unless you are drifting.

Jeremy Clarkson wore down a set of rears down to the cords in FORTY miles while tracking the C63

of course, it's funnier if you imagine them being brand new tires to start, rather than some 5,000-mile press fleet examples, so let's go with that

You guys might want to try a more mileage and wallet friendly option... there are plenty to chose from, from MBW forum sponsor Tire Rack:

is that with no wheel spinning?...are you running a soft compound tire?..if not, depending on quality of tire you're buying that($2000) seems like a set and a half...is it an alignment problem(car not properly dropped)so that you're wearing out the inside of the tread?...just curious...

if u watch the video of him tracking the c63, he was drifting the car A LOT
so its no surprise he wore em down so fast
