AMG's New Engine
Hey guys, even though this talks about the new SLK, it mentions that the AMG version MAY receive a 3.6L V8 Twin-Turbo engine to replace the 6.2L V8. It also says that this new engine could bring 470hp in stock form. Just thought you guys would be interested.

I might get the upcoming SLK if they offer the 6.2 liter V8 before the phase over.

"The AMG version, however, could deliver a gobsmacking 470 horsepower from a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-8 engine to replace the aging 6.2-liter V-8 found in the current '63' model family."
I find that entire statement somewhat insulting. First the 6.2 liter V8 is NOT that that old, was once hailed as the most powerful normally aspirated V8 in the world and it has about the same peak power at 460ish HP, depending on what state of tune it is in. I love turbos but unless they offer more of something, all they do is make it more complex. Now a twin turbo 6.2 liter V8 at 700+ hp would be interesting. AMG, are you listening???

A 3.6L V8TT could be a rev-happy addition to the AMG lineup; might have great tuning potential as well. Time'll tell, we'll have to wait and see.

I think the main reason all the big players are switching to twin turbo setup is because of emission and trying to make them look more enviromental friendly.
Turbo car definitely emit less emission and is better than gas compared to our 6.2liter V8. Being able to make big power is just the icing on the cake for the automakers.
To me it the fact everyone is going FI is a sad fact. Powerful, complex high reving NA engines are definitely something many ethuthanists will miss. However FI seems to be the future and nothing can stop this trend. (well unless we find a lot more gas ...). In the end though i just wish the future smaller amg models such as C class and CLK, SLK can be made more of a sports car than just luxury cruisers.

Lets not even get into headwork.
LS7 does make a lot of power with slight modification but this is only made possible due to the high demand for aftermarket goods for the LS7
M156 is still at the early stage of aftermarket modification and i don't think it will ever get close to the LS7 since there just ain't that many C63s as vettes.
Anyways both are awesome engine
