Check the dipstick and see if you are where you need to be.

Bring it to the dealer and let them handle it then. My light came on at 4500 miles or so and it turned out to be a bad oil level sensor that they changed. Oil level was fine. Dealer insisted on not changing the oil until 10000 miles up to that point.

i dont think u shud assume it's a bad sensor. just manually check ur oil w/the dipstick and add oil if necessary.

your oil is low the sensor is sensitive. if the oil is not between the two "dots" on your dipstick add about a half of quart and recheck.

I agree with you totally, however if the dealer is close, I would go there and have them fill it with the argument that "you have to be kidding me this car is low on oil after 1300 miles."

What I like!
Have you been doing a lot of high-rpm driving?

I changed my engine oil after break-in and at 5000 & 10,000 miles and will do so every 5000. I've never gotten a "check oil" message and I haven't had to add oil either. Like others said, take advantage of the fact this car has a dipstick and see how much it's using... but I'd go ahead and take it to the dealer for an oil change it too. It was only $102 at my dealer.

My ‘Check Engine Oil’ warning came on 3 times before 1000 miles. I kept checking the oil level and it seemed ok. After the third time I took it to the dealer, they checked it straight away and said it was fine. I’m now at about 3000 miles and the indicator has not reappeared. Who knows the answer unless you check, if you are still concern after checking or unsure of how to read it, take it to your dealer. While they check it, ask them it to show you how to read the dipstick.

Same thing happened to me...the dealer said it was a common problem...a bad oil level sensor and they changed.

I just hit the 1k mark on my 2010 as well - I was going to change the oil at the 1,875 mark when AMG recommends changing the diff oil, regardless of what the dealer says (they didn't pay for the car, and what's $100 for some piece of mind?).

I agree plus what Dealer wouldn't doing it if you're going to pay. It's money in the pocket for them.

I did my first oil changed at 1000km... I'm planning to keep the car for a long time, so I wanted to flush the junk from the new engine. It might not be necessary, but I didn't want to take a chance.

Daniel, my dealer wrote 9.5 liters on my invoice but I was told it's due to the fact they drained the oil cooler too. So our cars seems to have 2 oil drains?

I spent an extra 30 minutes at the Dealer for my first oil and diff change at 1300 miles, because of the time necessary to drain the oil cooler.. This is why it is not recommended for AMG cars that oil be changed by sucking it out through the dipstick shaft only.

I change my own oil all the time, and drain it the old fashion way, most people don't know about the oil cooler. And that it has a drain plug as well, this way you fully drain all the oil out of the car. My 2010 C63 has 1600 miles on it currently, I have though about changing it around 5000 miles, but my shop foreman said to wait until my Service A is due at 10K. When I bought my 2007 E63 the dealer changed my oil and rear diff, at no charge to me.

I see the logic of having to drain the oil inside the oil cooler to get as much oil out as possible, but what's wrong with sucking the oil from the top on a regular internal BEFORE the oil gets too contaminated? Say every 7500 miles? This way it is done much faster, cleaner, and no risking of oil leaks from bad replacements of the drain plug/crush washer. Visual inspection is of course another issue.

There is nothing wrong with doing that. I'm just old fashioned, and I like to get my hands dirty (grease monkey) at heart. I like that gravity does the work, and I can hit the oil cooler once I'm under there.

I changed my oil at 1000 miles to get the break in oil out. Ive gotten the check engine oil message twice, Whenever you see that message fill up your car with 1 quart of oil and you'll be good to go.
