C63 Oil Change w/ Mityvac :: Write-up and Photos
After so many years I am pretty sick of sliding under cars, having oil splash on me when the drain plug first drops, and having to store cardboard so oil doesn't splash on my garage floor.
Makes perfect sense to me to try one of these things out. Like others I have always heard mixed reviews but maybe the negatives were by people not doing it right.
It is 32mm and works with any 3/8 wrench. Only $6.99.

- I got the vac tube to go all the way down. I marked it with my hand and compared to the dipstick. They vac line goes about 1.5" deeper than the dipstick.
- I was about 1 quart low. Topped the Mityvac up to about 7.5 liters.
- 9-quarts got it back to full.

Superlube, why is it that everything you purchase is off of Amazon? I'm just curious.

I am still a bit uneasy about this method though. I just don't see how this suction method could suck up any debris/particles when they would clearly sink to the lowest point of the pan. I would imagine that you may get some out but how would you really know you don't have bits of shaving, debris, ect.. still floating around down there? Sorry, I don't mean to be skeptic but I just would like to make just to get everything out of there especially for the first oil change after break-in is completed. After the first one I would definitely consider going about it using this method though.

As mentioned in previous posts, the extraction method outlined here is a great/no-mess "in-between" solution for those wanting more frequent changes than the factory recommended schedule. Draining via both plugs will remove more oil. Nobody is arguing that.

Very good write-up though and for the inexperienced that INSIST on doing their own oil changes,its safer than cross-threading the drain plug.
