IMO, this is a darn good thread. Very nice and detialed write-up, super; including your follow-ups keeping us posted on the absence of issues.

And a good dose of healthy speculation with clarification and answers; easing even the most novice of wannabe modders; like me.

The pulley is certainly on my list once past the holiday season.

Thanks

No issues. Do it.

BTW, I just ordered my next mod. Starts with "RENN and ends in Box".

James let me know. Super, you're making it hard to keep up. Any idea of when we can go racing next year?

MHP V3 tune went in last week. My C/F hood, trunk, diffuser and splitters went on today.

Sadly, nothing local opens until March/April next year.

Nice! Dyno run w/ new tune? How much weight saved on the trunk?

Super, I'm glad your car is running smoothly. I'm still a little hesitant doing this mod due to the fact that I personally witnessed two CLS63s and one E63 encounter a few electrical problems soon after the pulley install. Do you think the problem maybe more of an issue on bigger cars such as the CLS or E as opposed to the smaller C-Class due to possible higher electrical demands

By the way, you'll LOVE the RENNtech box I can't wait to read your write-up on it

No dyno yet. I've been swamped with work. I'm going to head over to CarbConn after Christmas.

Not sure on the exact weight savings of the trunk lid. I just dropped off the boxes at Queen City Auto Rebuild with the car. IIRC, it's about a 15lbs difference.

I understand this is 10 years old; but I am thinking of finding one of the underdrive crank pulleys for my m156. Anyone have issues after all these years due to it?

I see evosport is out of business; can anyone recommend a pulley? Agency Power perhaps?

thank you!

going with a replacement crank pulley that is solid versus with rubber isolator is something to be aware of. the rubber isolator allows for harmonics from the crankshaft to not emit through to the belt and vise versa. I have reached out to ATi and Fluidampr and both do not plan to offer a pulley for us, but that does not mean any machine shop cold build one using their parts and offer one to the community.

thanks for the response and input! I’m seeing the ones offered by VRP ($500) and Agency Power ($650) do have the rubber cores. Any of them you use, or recommend?

that's good to hear...no sorry I don't have any recommendations. I'd personally go with AP if it was closer in price to VRP.

Agency Power is Vivid, and Vivid are scumbag crooks. I’d stay away, they don’t give a shît about you or your car, just making a quick buck.

in general for engines, having a solid crank pulley without rubber isolator will cause increased crankshaft bearing wear. other things may follow but that's the main issue.
