X PIPE VS STRAIGHT PIPE
Can some one shed some light on this subject and give a couple of suggestions?

Without the resonator there will be considerable droning/resonance while cruising.........unless you are stomping the ***** out of it all of the time.
Without adequate exhaust gas volume(just cruising/not stomping) the exhaust pulses will start to collide and cause droning.

We charge $995 for the cat delete and mating to the factory resonator.
If we can duplicate the ends that go into the resonator(we use the ends off of the original pipes) then we can duplicate this section for much less than that!
55 setup...
thanks
This is on an E55!

The x-pipe's original functionality was introduced when engines had carburetors to "equalize" the banks. Now, I use an the x-pipe for sound purposes only. If you use an X-pipe it should be as far forward as possible.
The torque that you supposedly "lose" would only be at the initial stab of the throttle and will never come into play again as you go through the gears!
You want to excavate the exhaust pulses and heat out of the engine as fast as possible for peak efficiency and that is with as little back pressure as possible. Stepping the exhaust is another way to increase efficiency and that is why we use 3" after the OEM ~2.75".
Hope this helps!
