Burned my leg with exhaust

I think that this is my 5th time or so in summer from last year I burned my leg with exhaust. Specially in the corner of the rear bumper exhaust pipe really sticks out so its easy to touch it just walking by the car.

I really thought that this is very dangerous. Its good that it was me but Im always scare that if that was my kid.

In Japanese law you cant have anything to stick out of front or rear bumper but this exhaust really sticks out. I wounder why it got proved.

Have anyone had this kind of problem? Don't you guys think that it stick out too much?

WOW! Sorry to hear this. If there is so many people I think that Mercedes should think about this and fix this problem. Really cant believe how hot that exhaust gets. I already have 5 burned mark on my leg that will never go away.

I know that. I should have learned by now but this year was my first time so totally forgot about that from last year. Anyway lets watch out for that hot exhaust!

Got burned for the first time... luckily no marks on my legs, but that exhaust is darn hot! Watch out for the kids.

Not sure what Mercedes could do? They are almost recessed when the car is cool and only stick out when it is hot. I for one, wished it stuck out a little more. Especially when it is cold so you can see the "AMG" on the tips.

This has been a problem for a while. I have a three inch long exhaust shaped scar on the back of my calf. I've been ultra cautious ever since. When ever anybody goes back there, I warn them.

wow, I can't believe this is such a prevalent problem

surprised there's not a giant sticker saying "WARNING hot exhaust will burn you."

maybe once there's a class-action lawsuit we can get these cool stickers

I have always been under the impression that if the exhaust gets that hot, then it must not flow very well. On my GSXR 1000 the stock exhaust got smoking hot and stayed hot after shut-off (which is very dangerous as my kids are always all over it when I get back from a ride). But after I did a full Akrapovic system (header, cat delete, etc.) it now never gets that hot, and you can touch the muffler 30 seconds after shut-off. Maybe now I can justify LT headers for the C63 as a safety precaution?

If you move them in too far they will likely burn the bumper cover or diffuser. Had that happen on my fathers 6.9 450SEL. It burned the rubber bump strip in the bumper. MB's cure was a new bump strip and tip extensions at the time.

He always blamed me after one really fast 240 mile drive.

i hope everyone is ok

taking into considering we have a large v8, but still... wouldn't most cars get hot as well? isn't it like trying to work in the engine of a car right after a drive... and reaching your hand in there to get to a hose and possibly get burned...

i know i wouldn't want some logo or sticker saying that the exhaust tips will be hot...

this sort of reminds me of the mcdonalds hot coffee case

I usually stay away from my rear Black bumper out of fear of putting any scratches on it so the exhaust has never been an issue. Are you guys leaning on the bumper??

Plus go-kart racing has always made me conscious about exhausts. i.e. they are hot, so keep your distance.

I never leaned on my rear bumper, I would be too afraid to scratch mine. I was just walking behind my car in a tight spot in my garage when I got burnt.

I bet no one want to see it but here is my burned leg. It still hurts. I think that dealer should think about this problem and fix the muffler.

yeah go wash your pusssy--cat that is

I'm sorry but I had to say it--but I'm kidding around of course.
I can't believe that it is such a common problem.
I must admit that I looked at the exhaust on the one I just test drove on Monday and they do stick out alot after running the car.
