Rev engine in park or neutral
Sorry for the stupid post, but was curious if you guys rev your engines in park or neutral. Was also wondering if it was bad to rev your car in park. Thanks

LOL Common guys, be nice.
I believe it is ok to rev in either park or neutral. The engine is totally ok with this given that the temps have reached a comfortable level. What is known just for wear-down sake, is NOT to rev past about 4000 rpm in park or neutral. Beyond this, for extended periods of time, may cause some undesired wear and heat.

can it really be that bad to rev while in park or neutral as long as the car is up to temp? people do it all the time for videos on what the car sounds like with this pipe and that header and this tune.

Thanks to everyone who was mature about it. I was just making sure for peace of mind. Since i've seen many vids of people revving and wasn't sure if they were in neutral or park. I've been lightly revving it in park to about 3k rpm and wanted to see what others were doing.

I occasionally rev it in Park to show off the thunderous sound to friends. The revs are in short bursts just to hear the exhaust rev up and down- sounds amazing! No problems what so ever and no rev limiter kicking in.

Not a myth.... there is actually a rev limiter when in Park or Neutral. When you reach it, you should see your rpm dropping back down to lower speeds. If you keep doing it, the limiter will keep bouncing you off that rpm value.

Umm yeah are you ok? Did daddy just touch you or something and you feel the need to release it on the internet. I've driven manual cars all throughout my life so i'm not sure what the proper way was on a high performance car with auto. Do you even own a c63...

It's weird but sometimes I can rev above 4000 rpm in park. It could be that if you done some hard driving, the rev limiter shuts off.
I don't care about breaking the car because I don't intend to keep any performance car for a long time. What's the point any way? In 5 years, this car is gonna be "slow".

My car has no rev limiter in N or P. I've revved it all the way to 6-7k before when showing off the sound to friends. Who cares.
Just don't Neutral-Drive it. Eg, rev in N, push it into D for a hard launch... haha. So many memories of doing this in ****boxes though... :P

Here is what I have determined.. through experimenting
While the vehicle is at a stand still in P or N, you cannot rev past 4k
If the vehicle is in motion (shift it to N) you can rev past 4k for a short period of time.
I did not maintain pressure on the pedal, these were quick bursts, as noted previously to just showcase the monster engine the pops when the engine revs down is awesome.
That leads me to believe that the system is limiting based on motion, and not necessarily what gear (or position rather) you are in on the tranny.

I own a 2007 300C AMG 6.4 litre. I guarantee you I'm not okay. I touch your mama fortnightly.

Sorry you just killed it for yourself.
If you are used to driving a manual car then have you rev'd it in Neutral?
if so then and it works then do it.
It's stupid to make a thread like this just looking for to get bashed.
