Okay, lets talk, stock C63 is a real monster from a roll, cool stories inside...

Below are fictional stories for entertainment purposes only.

I knew C63's were fast, but the past few days have really opened my eyes even more.

It began a few days ago, I was driving down a pretty wide-open street and came upon a black Z06. I drove past him and he followed. We turned down a completely open mile-long street and we both wanted to run. So, driving about 50 mph, with the Z06 about 8 ft. behind me I floored it (in Sport mode, ESP in Sport), the car down shifted and leaped forward. I immediately realized that I jumped the gun, so I let off the throttle, but my rpms were still up above 3500.

Right then, the Z06 floored it and when he got even with me, I floored it and we were off, it was a fair start, with the Z06 getting the jump because he took off first and essentially started the run.

Our cars were neck and neck and my car started to pull ahead ever so slightly at about 103 mph, and I felt like my car was only getting stronger, so I let off the gas and the Z06 blew by me and kept going until the end of the road, where there is a stoplight.

I pulled up next to him and we both gave each other a big thumbs up and I looked down right behind his passenger wheel and saw the Z06 emblem. At first I just thought it was a regular Vette. I couldn't believe it.

He seemed really impressed with the C63 by the look on his face. If anything, I will concede that the run wasn't perfect and perhaps the Z06 would have won, but it felt really close -- much closer than I would have expected.

Then, last night I was driving down another long, empty road and I drove by a Porsche Turbo. Again, we went from a roll (about 55 mph), I was in Manual mode this time (ESP Sport), I dropped it down to 3rd gear and the rpms went to around 3500, and we both took off pretty evenly. Our cars were dead even for a few long seconds and then we started to approach a long curve so I backed off, and him being a Porsche just kept going... while he increased in speed.

The Porsche took off from there going very fast.

I immediately understood how important handling is when you have a powerful car. But, I also know that a sedan isn't supposed to be able to take a curve the same way a Porsche Turbo can.

Still, these experiences left me feeling very impressed with the C63 and I can only imagine how much faster it is with a proper tune.

I'm thinking because the Z06 and the Porsche turbo are much lighter cars than the C63, their real advantage would be better 60 ft. times than the heavier C63.

But, from a roll, when the C63 is in the meat of it's powerband, the lighter car may not have as much of an advantage.

It's a pretty fictional story, because no way a c63 hang with a c6 z06 unless you were talking about a c5 z06.

It was a C6.

Even in the land of fiction, I kept wondering when this much lighter Vette was going to make it's move. It never happened. And then to discover it had the LS7 engine, I was really shocked.

And honestly, the Z06's driver really had a friendly and humbled look on his face. I thought he looked impressed.

not possible. C6 Z06 with one wheel tied behind its back would destroy our C63's.

Well, this Z06 must have had all 4 wheels tied behind it's rear diffuser.

In the OP, you will find that that isn't the type of race I described.

You know, you have me questioning things now. Maybe the Z06 driver wasn't even running against me, maybe he just tried to stay next to me to hear my exhaust and after he had his fill and realized that I let off the gas, he decided to show off the sound of his exhaust as he flew by me. Or maybe, it wasn't even a Z06. Maybe the guy just taped the emblem onto his regular Vette to look cool. It's all good.

A lot of things can happen in the road. Take your word and say it was a c6 z06, could of just been a horrible driver. Or a z51

The Porsche turbo is somewhat believable being a 996tt

I agree. Must have been a very relaxed race. Otherwise all the C63 ever get's to see is the Z06's tail lights.

I would look at it the same way as you.

Let me say a few things.

1) This wasn't a thread to say the C63 is faster than a Z06. I'm sure most understand this point. I know the C63 is not as fast as a Z06. I hate that I feel like I have to share that with the forum.

2) Perhaps I was a better driver than the Z06 driver. Or maybe I'm not, I don't know, perhaps he just didn't drive as good as he could at that moment.

3) I saw the emblem.

Anyway, it's all good. It was just for fun and I'm sure the other driver felt the same way.

I don't have any non-web friends that I can talk cars with. I'm very passionate about my interests and if it wasn't for these forums, I would go insane.

So, I really wanted to share my experiences with others that have the same passion.

Really, all I took away from these two fictional runs was that the C63 did great -- much better than I expected. I feel like if you take off right in the meat of the powerband on these cars, you really feel pleased with the performance.

I know we don't have the most hp or the best gears, and we're N/A, but something about the combination of the parts on the C63 AMG makes it faster than it should be. This is my opinion.

I believe the OP's fictional story. I had a fictional arce with a friends cammed Z06 and i thought he was goin to pull buses on me. Impressively enough he only pulled about 2 Cars in front of me no moré than 2 Cars and i was able to hang in there till we reached considerable speed.

I am going to give you some facts based upon verified 60-130 times.

A new Z06 will run a 7.86 60-130. My 644 rwhp SC M3 ran an 8.59 and the z06 will put 3-4 lngths on my car, which is about as fast as the fastest known c63, Dads C63 (which ran an 8.4....that is before he sprayed).

I am questimating that my C63 w/ the tune will run about a 10 flat 60-130, maybe break into the 9's....maybe.

My GT2 when it was making less than 700 rwhp ran a 5.79, I have put 12K in mods in her since and she is making about 800 now and should run mid-low 5's.

You need to run in the 5's around here (and trap in the 140's) to be considered a fast car....several Supras run in the 4' (making 1K rwhp) and one Viper ran a 3.93.

The C63 is a wonderful car that has good power but it is hardly a monster, especially w/out a tune.

The bottom line is that a properly driven Z06 will put about 10-12 lengths on an untuned C63, 8-9 on one in a tune in the real world.

Then again last night in my fictional world I had sex w/ Megan Fox.

Thank you for sharing these facts. I enjoy reading some good data.

Edit: I was talking about all of the facts you posted. I didn't want you to take it the wrong way and think I was being sarcastic.

If this is a stock Z06 at it's best, I would wager that the Z06 I saw in my fictional tale, didn't match this time.

Isn't it possible that he ran slower than that? Plus, I didn't see him at 130 mph because I wasn't going that fast.

Do you know how much faster the fastest stock Z06 is than the fastest stock C63 from 60-100 mph? I would be interested to know that data.

60-100 is zo6/zr1 2nd gear it's a monster in my book at that speed I wouldn't want to run it at that speed in anything?? Well pretty much no unmodified car on the planet well I guess under 1,000,000.00 there are A few above that I'd put my money on but other then that....

I wonder what gear he was in when he really stepped on it? We were definitely cruising for about 1/8 mile before we got on it.

I'm was in Sport, so I think it dropped into 2nd. Almost positive.
