My run in with a Camaro SS
But that's exactly it....it you're coming on strong in Third, you already got walked through the first 2 gears out of the hole, and need to make it up before you can throw on the hazards in victory in a street race...
Totally agree that if you're cars starting in the power band in third, you would give it to them, but that's more of a high-way run than a street race (not that i condone it / just participate in it

wish we could slap a blower on a C63...we'll just have to wait for some twin turbos (fingers crossed)

Whipple 2.3L is actually the way to go.
The 1st and 2nd is only on street tires. Slap some DR's and the problem is gone.
Now lets get down to it though...
German engineering... 451 bhp C63 edges out a 540 bhp GT500 in the 1/4. Neither car hooks well through first and second on streets.
Tune the C63 to what the GT500 is running stock (540 bhp) and the GT500 gets spanked. Slick on both cars.
Turn up the PSI however and the blown GT500 wins in the end... even if you do headers and a few other mods.
The point is, bringing the C63 up to the same HP that the stock GT500 is running and Z-Germans win.
Well see what cams do to the C63 however... HURRY YO A$$ UP DADS! lol

I saw him at a car show about a month later. We both had our cars there on Display. He stopped by with his buddies , To them about our impromptu Run west of town , and said beware of my car. He was really Kool. I went over to look at his nicely modded Camaro. He had Headers , Exhaust and a 2 large power adder bottles mounted on the rear deck. These Camaro's are not unstopable , but don't be fooled

Careful out there...

With 4 wheel snow tires and the dccd to full lock it can tear up the snow pretty bad, but just like everything else on the road stopping is always the problem! lol
Normally I take out my 2009 Buick Enclave.
The biggest hurdle will be the transmission. As it stands now, the torque limits are not very high.
Too bad too. Because, like I've been told, our relatively high compression engines could handle some low boost and make some good power.
And about the Camaro SS... They are pigs.

The dude you ran definitely was not stock.
Stock SS is a pig that is true. But its cheap and with very little work can run even with a stock C63 for about 30K less.

Look were all AMG fans, but, believe it or not there actually are faster/less expensive cars that can(imagine that!)beat a 63
so this is the part of the thread where everybody chimes in with the "BUT its a rustang...its cheap interior is appalling,id rather walk then own a ford blah blah blah"...

Not 1 stock 2010 GT500 on dragtimes is in the 11's. I find that test to be different from every other result that Ive seen. In that case you dont just pick the best result, you average them out and the 2010 GT500 is tested by numerous magazines and people at about 12.3 - 12.7 in almost every run.
A stock 2010 GT500 is most certainly not running mid 11's on DR's without turning up the boost.
that happened to me a couple years ago and i didnt even have a cool story like yours!
