My timeslips inside - thoughts?
Bone stock 2011 C63 sedan. Conti DWS all seasons.
Pass # 1: "Sport handling mode"
Then it was pointed out to me by my slightly more knowledgeable friends that running 48 PSI in the rear tires wasn't the best idea. I deflated to 28 in rear and did the next run. Been on the list to get it reprogrammed with STAR the ride quality is horrid with 48 psi in the back.
Pass # 2: still in sport mode.
Then I learned about left foot brake, right foot build up revs at staging. I was keeping the revs at 1500 before giving it the beans.
Pass # 3: still in sport mode
Pass # 4: still sport mode.
Pass # 5: Shifted out of sport mode into full traction control mode.
Pass # 6: Transmission in "comfort" mode.
Pass # 7: My best and final pass of the night. Back to sport mode. Revved it up to 2500 with left foot on brake before setting off.
So my question:
I looked up what times a stock C63 is putting down on dragtimes.com and I see a bunch of 12.7s with a lone 12.5. I can't possibly be that close (12.81) to the best times my car is doing by just rolling up and mashing the throttle with winter-biased all season tires? Hell, I even have roof bars on it! I wasn't even trying to be scientific about the launch, I was just mashing it. This means that modern traction control is either that good that a noobie can roll up and go for it, or the times posted on drag times aren't right. Any guesses which it is?

108mph and those times are probably all due to the all season tires. With a good sticky summer tire you likely would have seen 12.2s or 12.3s.
When I had my best runs I left the car in sport handling mode and just modulated the throttle to avoid wheel spin.

Conditions matter too, July in New England not the best time to race. My C63 stock went 11.9 at 118 in the fall at Atco but would turn mid 12's during the summer at etown.
My car best runs stock were in S+ and ESP in sport, with drag radials my best runs were using launch control.

My 08 ran similar times a couple of weeks ago. My best was 12.95@ 108 and my worse was 13.1@ 108.
Night time air quality was horrible. Mid 80 temps and around 70% humidity. Hoping for some mid 12's when I go back in the fall

My E with the pano roof and all the mods in my sig went 12.29 at 114 on drag radials, but the track was 115 degrees. 1.9 60 foot. Its strange how it seems some of the 6.2s are making much more power then others. I'm looking at the trap speed more so then anything else.

Agree. The trap speed is way lower than it should be, even considering the heat. I ran 116mph bone stock in summer heat. Does the car have high miles?

I'm starting to wonder if failing cam adjusters are the cause of these large power differences with these cars...... I have done the cam timing on a 63 and I understand how they are put together, but I don't understand why some of these cars make power and some do not.

The car has 39k miles.
I can see how DWS/winter-biased tires could be holding me back from doing better. Other than a lack of skill, of course. I plan to work on my launch and 60' times next time I go out to the strip, and my goal for next time is a 12.65.

Listen dude, calm down, don't be so sensitive. Just trying to offer suggestions because your trap is 6-8mph lower than similar cars stock, in similar weather. Don't post up 'Thoughts?" if you don't want to hear any.

Same once I did the MBH headers and OE tune, 11.32 at 125.3 was my best but in the heat of the summer 12.0-12.1 at 116-117mph

12.1 to 11.32 strictly based on temperature? What the hell is wrong with these cars?
That is like when I pulled on a 700 horsepower turbo 997 from 40-130 on a dead even 3 honk race. How does that even happen? Sucks these ecus are so sensitive and feel they need to pull a ton of power.

Nothing wrong with them and they are not overly sensitive - just the nature of air density, oxygen content, and how that effects the air pump under the hood. The math explains it all, go from 100* heat, 80% humidity, 29.60 barometer, and a track with an elevation of 515ft (Island Dragway) to a 40* day, 30% humidity, 30.40 barometer, and a track 33ft (Atco Raceway) above sea level.
