7 miles....acceptable?
Got my oil changed yesterday and when I got it back, noticed the dealership had put 7 miles on the car. That 7 miles also showed 7mpg. I asked them also to check the brake pads and the tpms, which was inoperable.
You guys decide if somebody beat the snot out my car.

at the risk of defending the indefensible, its possible that the poor MPG may be to do with extensive idling, perhaps to warm up the engine and correctly distribute the new oil etc, followed by a short drive (7 miles really isnt that far).
of course, they probably took your car for a hot lap. after all, isnt that why you bought it?

i checked the rear bumper and the underside of the side skirts and didn't see anything, but when i got the car back it was in C. To me 7 miles is a lot when I brought my car in for a oil change and check those other things I mentioned. Hell the least I ever got out my car was 10 mpg. Don't know how they got 7mpg.

But just so you know:
1. Techs and the "kids" that move the cars in and out love beating on these cars when you take them in for service. Multiple valets and techs have told me this
2. You can still beat on the car in C
3. 7 mpg is DEFINITELY going on a few "sprited" drives
4. Good thing you took note. Mention to the service manager
5. I have a feeling they took your car for a joy ride

I've taken my car in to get it topped off for oil and the tech brought it back to me with 225 oil temp and the tranny in Sport mode. I've never gotten the temp up to 225 no matter how hard I've driven it. Needless to say I was pissed but my SA didn't care.

I took my C63, into MB of Alexandria,VA for a CEL. Ultimately is was diagnosed as a purge valve issue. They kept the car for two days, when I got it back it was down a quarter tank. keep in mind that it was full when, I took it over there. And only 13 miles was placed on it. So yes, those techs are beating the snot out of your cars. Think of it this way, how often does a technician get his hands on an AMG!! Well I had to test drive it, is the word that I received.

I'm sure your car went out for a few runs. Really no need to drive 7 miles after oil change. When i do take my cars to the dealer, i always make sure the SA write down the exact mileage. I also notice now, the take pics of the whole car at different angles. Guess they want to make sure the car comes in looking the way it does.
When i got my fuel sending unit replaced at the stealer and talked to the tech he said everything looks good. Your car pulls pretty hard compared to other AMGs. Guess he def noticed the OE tune i got on it:-)

I'm sure anyone who takes this car out goes full throttle, and probably doesn't care about warming it up either.
I have written on my file "NO TEST DRIVES" in big bold capitalized letters.
Brake pads, oil changes, and tpms should not require a test drive.

hmmm...guess I'm in the minority. I could care less and never look at the mileage when I drop my car off. I can be certain of one thing no one will ever beat this car harder than I do. As long as a wheel doesn't get curbed I don't care.

Thats cuz you didn't buy your car. You are on a lease. Its not yours. If someone violated my property they would be hurting.

I always warm my car up to temp before I drive it hard. I'm certain whomever took it out for a "test drive" just beat the hell the crap out of it without warming up. I plan on owning it until the car disintegrates, so I try to take care of it as much as possible.
