Common Problems with the C63 AMG

Wanted to get a thread together on common problems that the car has so new owners are aware. Lets start a list of common problems(Think: What problems do people seem to be making the most threads on? Rattles? Squeaks? Sensor issues?)

May not be a problem for most, but wearing a helmet in the coupe is a b*tch...I'm looking for seats now that would sit me lower in the car. If you are tall or have a long torso plan on having issues finding a good driving position while wearing a helmet.

About 12000 miles. Nothing major to report. Needed to top up oil twice quite early on but oil consumption seems to have stopped as the motor gets run in - not going to call this a "problem" as such rather a characteristic of a large capacity engine with little internal tolerances in the motor.
From early on there was a rather trivial but still very annoying "squeak" somewhere around the drivers seat when driving on uneven road at relatively low speed. Took a while to sort it out but after raising it with the dealer (who initially said could not hear it, then "we have no idea") and realising I would have to sort it out myself I checked out all the obvious spots (dash and console trim/door cards/arm rests etc) and eventually traced it to the drivers seat - adjusted the back rest slightly and the squeak was instantly eliminated. I thought about trying to lubricate the hinges etc if it ever came back but it hasn't. Apart from this very minor "problem" the car remains completely free of squeaks and rattles.
I really think these cars are well built and unless you drive them way in excess of the manner it was intended - ie abuse it and deliberately try to blow it up - it should remain rock solid and free of problems. Hopefully haven't jinxed myself by typing this but too late now!!

Yes
32k so far and car is awesome. Only things I've had we're minor warranty things:

Rear sunshade creaked/rattled when down
COMAND dial stopped working, just changed the knob
Steering wheel squeak (tsb is out)

I think that's it....in almost 3 years, that's nothing!

1) Ticking noise from the motor due possibly to faulty cams (wouldn't say it's "common", but prevalent enough that there's a class action lawsuit ongoing);

2) Oil consumption/burning (many threads on this);

3) Inadequately sized rear tires; and

4) Foul odor from A/C (easy dealer fix).

These are the ones that have directly affected me. There may be more that I'm unaware of.

ive had two c63's and the first one only made it 6,000 miles. it had to be topped off with oil once. It also seemed to run awfully hot but that could have been because of an inaccurate temp gauge.

the new one is closing in on 2000 and i had a problem with the coolant level sensor. other than that it has a bunch of creeks and rattles that are mildly annoying but it is a c class.

the trunk is two small on the coupe. my g35 had much more room (golf club wise) I could cram 3 sets of clubs in my g35 sedan but i cant fit one set in the c63 coupe

My speedometer needle rises rapidly when my right foot goes down, and my exhaust note gets louder...but I think that's just operator 'error'...

Only problem thus far was a single instance of the Comand screen failing to rise when the car was started. Let it sit for a couple of minutes and tried again and it has worked perfectly ever since.

I do wish this thing had a bigger gas tank though, I rarely get even 200 miles on each one - but I also drive, let's just say, enthusiastically....

My dealer just informed me that MB is no longer fitting the bill under warranty for the in-cabin filter changes. I think they charge a couple hundred bucks. Last year they were doing this for owners under warranty.

i have a coupe, and yes they fold down but the driver would have the steering wheel in his chest cause the seat was so far up. so you can do it on the passenger side and they would fit. but, if you have a passenger, they would be smashed up against the dash.

infiniti was able to do it on a smaller car?????

1) purge valve sticking open
2) squeeky e-brake boot when the weather is cold
3) cracking/pop sound when closing the sunroof
4) digital oil temp displays erratic and incorrect temp
5) in-cabin filter needing replacement too often
6) engine pinging on 91-octane
7) creaking/rattle noise from driver's side of dash

Car has 18K miles and no major issues to report. Only things I've experienced are:

1) Oil consumption - have had to top it off twice over the past 11000 miles
2) Squeaky passenger seat when driving with no passenger in it
3) Sunroof squeaks when driving in tilt mode
