Need Member advice - Current 2012 C63 should I go Black Series now?
Hi all,
I need some collective advice and opinions.
I had a 2010 c63 I just traded for a 2012 c63 Edition 1 , in Magno Alanite Grey this september.
I love the car, its just a world of difference from my 2010. I was on the list for the first allocation of a black series c63, which I got a call for yesterday.
All said and done it comes out to about 124K.
The options I went for are:
Exterior Carbon pkg (not aero pkg)
Forged Matte Black wheels
044 Magno Alanite Grey (Matte) Paint finish.
AMG Leather Seating (instead of standard MBTEX/Dinamica)
---------
The advice I need from you all is, if I should do it.
I have 1400mi on my car, its basically as new. I dont want to lose money on the current car but they are offering a horrible trade in price for the car. (as of right now)
Its down to the wire, I have till the 19th to decide. Before the door closes on my opportunity.
I am unsure what to do. I would like to get input on the wise decision to make. I can afford the 2012 Black. Will it hold its value better? Will it really be THAT different?
Thanks all.

I paid 72 for my current one in september, they want to possibly slice 10K off that and give me 62. I am not for that. I would sell the car for 70, probably not a penny less.
Delivery would be in April or May.
I was thinking to just sell the 2012 privately, or on consignment with that dealer. . .
Just pretty unsure about the whole thing. I love my current car. But I loved my 2010 too. the 2012 was day and night, Im guessing the black will make my current one look tame.
also keep in mind, I live in chicago, soon we will have speed cameras all over this year. There are rarely any opportunities to hit the the gas anymore, the only time I really have fun is those 3am drives on weekdays.
Its too much of a hassle to drive to tracks to play. . . . the wise man in me says forget it. the giddy child in me wants to go for it.
I can afford it, but I am not about losing any more money, I lost 10 on my 2010, ill lose 10 more on this one, and ill be paying 50K more then what I pay for for my 2012. . . .

I suspect you can get a MUCH better deal privately so go for it!

thx
thx for the insight.
Im going to weigh that option heavily, going to have a photo shoot done on the car, and put it up here and on ebay, if I go that route.
I just feel since im the buyer, and I want it, that I am biased. So I appreciate your input.

DEFINITELY get the BS. It is so much more aggressive than the regular C63 and is beautiful. Keep in mind it is hardcore but is just an amazing car. It is also VERY exclusive.

I have a 2012 c63. Even if I can afford the BS, The practical side of me will not let me do what you are planning. it just does not make sense to lose more money when you have a car that is a beast already and that can be tamed as a DD. Enjoy the car and if you have the urge customize your current c63 and make your own version of the BS.

If you're still thinking about the 10k loss on your MY10' and you stand to lose about 4-6k on a private sale of your 12' and that really matters to you (no judgment by me i can assure you) then wait on the BS.
Otherwise you just have to accept the losses. I dont suppose it gets easier even when you make more money. But, if you love the BS then that personal satisfaction may be worth the 15k loss.
If I could afford the BS I could also afford a lot of track expenditures and i would definitely use my BS for many track events including my own rentals so for my wants i would get it. But if i wasnt going to beat it up on the track, i would stick with street version that you have.

2012 C63 AMG
Not sure about the US but in Canada on a trade in you pay sales tax on the difference between the trade in car value the dealer is giving you and the new car you are buying, in your case you would save tax on $62k and only pay tax on $62k because you already paid the sales tax on your 2012. I believe sales tax in Chicago is 10.25% so full tax on $124k would be $12,710 but you only pay it on half of that because $124 - $62k is $62 which at 10.25% is $6,355. That's a savings of exactly $6,355 + $62k is $68,355, so really you are only losing $1,645 between selling privately at $70k then paying the full tax on $124k or trading in to the dealer for $62k. You may want to ask your dealer about this as I am not sure how it works in your state but I know that this is the way it is here in Canada and most states in the US. Hope that helps to sway you to get the BS
